263 OFFICE OF BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS. Baltimore. Md.. Wednesday, January 28, 1903. Board met; present. Messrs. Upshur and Morris. The minutes of the previous meeting, Monday, January 26, 1903, were read, approved and adopted. Trials. Officer Charles H. D. Finch, Western District, reported for not having been properly equipped, (without his badge), roll-call, 3.45 o'clock to-day, was excused. Officer William C. Ferguson^ Northwestern District, was fined §1.00 for having been thirty-seven minutes late for School of Instructions, January 26, 1903. Officer Joseph H. Burkin3, Central District, was tried upon the following charge, found guilty thereof and fined §10. and warned:- CHARGE:- "Not properly patroling his post and being in the engine room of St. James Hotel, Centre & Charles streets, from 11.10 P. M. to 11.59 P. M., January 27th,1903, on other than police business." ^ssjjjnments of Magistrates^^ The Secretary reported to the Board that on the afternoon of January 26th., after the adjournment of the Board, Justice Fechtig, Jr., Central District, had notified the Department that he desired to be absent from his duties from 3 to 5 P.M., January 26,1903, on account of sickness; that he, the Secretary, assigned Additional Justice Neilson Poe, Jr., to sit at the Central District Station-house, in the place of Justice Fechtig from 3 to 5 P.M., on the date mentioned. The action of the Secretary in assigning Justice Poe, as above, was approved.
