Trials . The following named officers of the Northern District were tried upon the charge as hereunder noted,preferred by Captain Bernard J. Ward , and acquitted;- Officer Charles G. Walton, Officer Clarence G.Veitch, 0_ffic«r John A. Way- __ Charge ; - "Holding idle conversation while on active duty, February 22nd,1903" Officer Charles J.Mc.Court, Northern District, was tried upon the fol lowing charge,preferred by Captain Bernard J. Ward, and acquitted. C h a r g e i-"0>ff his post on other than police business and holding idle conversation,February 22nd,1903". Assignments of Magistrates. Judge Charles W. Heuisler, Magistrate for Juvenile Causes, having notified the Board that he desired to be absent from his duties from 3 P.M. to-day, until 3 P. M., February 27,1903, Police Justice J. McKenny White was assigned to sit as Magistrate for Juvenile Causes during the absence of Justice Heuisler, as aforesaid. Additional Justice Neilson Poe, Jr., was assigned to sit at the Northern District Station-house during the absence therefrom of Justice J. McKenny White, assigned to Juvenile Court, as above. Justice Jacob Rab was assigned to act as Police Justice for the Central District from 3 P.M. to-day, until relieved, in the absence of Justice James A. Fechtig, Jr., who notified the Board that he desired to be absent from his duties on account of sickness. Donation. Upon the recommendation of Captain John J. Fullem, Western District, approved by the Marshal, it was ordered that Detective Harry M.Hammersla be permitted to retain Two Dollars, donated to him by Anthony M.Neale, 119 W. Lafayette avenue, for the recovery of gold watch.
