Particulars, and reasons for disallowance. For pay of seamen at the Lazaretto, his own pay, and the pay to officers of the barges and galley Vigilant, including g 75 02 for vegetables. The charge for vegetables was disallowed, a's a charge not admissible against the United St.ites. The residue of the S 1.170 66, deducted on this account, arises from the difference in pay, as in the preceding cases. For payments to officers and seamen at the Lazaretto, amounting to S 864 £7 ; from which S 287 87 was deducted, being the difference in the rate of monthly pay to the seanicn, charged by the Corporation, and S 8 per month, allowed under the decision of the Secretary of War. The charges in this account are for sums paid to sundry men of the galley Vigilant, stated not to be included in Captain Bunbury's former accounts, and for vegetables, cartage, assistance, and stationery. There are no receipts produced for any of the items. The whole account was, therefore, disallowed. Had vouchers been produced the charge of vegetables would be inadmissible, and a deduction would also be made of the difference between the pay charged for the services of the seamen, and g 8 per month, allowed by the Secretary of War.
