William H. Litsinger, in Baltimore. —The condition of Miss Ada May Playhart, who has been quite ill at her home here, is reported as being much improved. —Mrs. John Steinmetz returned to her home after visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schuster. — Willii ' tansbury, who has been confined to his home with illness, has resumed his duties at the Black & Decker plant. —Mrs. Henry Rigdon, of Sharon, Harford county, spent the week-end with her parents here, Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Chapman. —Mr. Henry Koch, who has been ill at his home here for three weeks, resumed his duties in the Clerk's office on Thursday last. —Mr. Henry Ryder, former proprietor of the People's Pharmacy here, has started an auto express between Tow-son and Baltimore. —The Towson Lodge of Elks celebrated its 25th anniversary on Tuesday night last, with Judge Prank I. Duncan as the principal speaker. --The March term of the Circuit Court lor Baltimore county will convene on Monday next, at which time the Grand Jury will be drawn. —Mr. Jennings Durham and Mr. Prank Smith, both of Idlewylde, have accepted positions with the Black & Decker Manufacturing Company here. —Mr. E. Lee Van Horn, who has been ill for some time and seemed on the road to improvement, had a turn for the worse tine latter part of this week. —Miss Susinne Ruby, daughter of Mr. Paris L. Ruby, who is a teacher at Guilford School, has been confined to her home for two weeks with illness. —Mrs. George M. Price, who has been ill at theHotel Towson for some months, had a relapse this week, which necessitated the calling in of a consulting physician. —On the evening of March 9th, the Towson Lodge of Elks will hold a meeting for the election of officers and at the same time several initiations will take place. —Dame Rumor has it that Mr. Prank Phipps has purchased the property now occupied by Mr. S. Clayton Seitz and will remodel same as a first class grocery store. —The fox hunters assembled at the Engine House on Monday last and braved the drizzling rain to gallop over the hills and through the dales following the hounds. —Dame Rumor has it that there will be a bridal couple in Towson after March 17, for on that day Miss Mary Zembauer will become the bride of Mr. Charles C. Gause. —Mr. Arthur German has associated himself with the Advertising Department of the Black & Decker Manufacturing Company, assuming his new au-tie-i on Monday last. —The Baltimore County Tax Books will close on March 1st, and yesterday (Friday) was the last day that the Commissioners sat for revising and abating assessments. —The condition of Mr. William A. Koch, pressman at the "Jeff" plant, who has been very sick for three weeks, is improved, so much so that he will resume his duties on Monday next. —Tuesday last was Dr. James H. Jarrett's birthday and he passed the 88th milestone, hale and hearty. In the evening ;t little dinner party was given at tiie Lee home in his honor. —Through his attorney, Edward S. Delapluine, Charles McHenry filed suit here i asking $10,000 damages for alleged injuries received while he was engaged in heating tar on a county r< —Mr. Harold Scarboro, son of' the Editor of the Union-News, sailed from New York on Saturday last for Genejia, Switzerland, where he will assume hi3 J new duties as Press Agent of the World-Wide Red Cross. —Miss Gladys Owens, of Lutherville, who is employed at the Black & Decker-Manufacturing Company's plant here, and who met with an accident while operating one of the big machines, cutting her fingers badly, has now resumed her activities. —A one-man circus or wild-west show "pitched tents" on Lee's corner on Tuesday last, and folks who happened by were attracted by the quaint show. A fellow attired in full cow-boy attire unfolded a table and began to '"peddle" patent medicine to all comers. —A meeting of the Taxpayers' League will be held at the Court House on Tuesday next. One day this week the Legislative Committee of the League, went to Annapolis to confer with the Baltimore County Delegation regarding some legislation the League is interested in. —Through Attorneys William P. Cole, Jr., and T. Bayard Williams, Alvah R. Merritt, of Colgate, filed suit in the J Circuit Court here, claiming $1,200 damages to his automobile, alleged to have | been caused in a collision with the ! machine of Edgar L. Schlemme and | Rose M. Schlemme on November 15 last. —Mrs. Mary Crowther Prizer, wife of : Edward Prizer, of East Orange, N J., ' eldest daughter of the la'e John Crowther, for years president of the Towson i National B?nk here, di^d on Sundav j last at S'-.uth Pines, N. G, where she [ was spending the winter. Death beimr the result cf a fall down a flight of stairs, —On March 15, Dr. Ross McC. Chapman will assume his duties as Superintendent of the Sheppard-Pratt Hospital. South Towson, to succeed Dr. E. N. Brush, who has held the position for 30 years. At the present time Dr. Chapman is chief executive officer at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Washington, and is also connected with the faculty of George Washington University there. —A souvenir post card was received at The Jeffersonian office this week from Mr. George G. Wheeler, who at one time was associated in the State's Attorney's office here, but who is now in San Francisco, Cal., with the Department of Justice. Mr. Wheeler said that whlie reading of the severe winter in the "Jeff" he was enjoying the balmy sunshine and fair weather of "Sunny California." —G. Farros, who conducts the confectionery store at the corner of the York road and Pennsylvania avenue, ¦was "stuns-" erood and proper, likewise were some of his customers, -who manipulated a "punch board." It appears that Farros himself spent something like $20 in chances to get a diamond ring as did some others, now all hands are sadder but wiser. —Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Flayhart are visiting relatives in York, Pa., where this (Saturday) evening, they will attend a sunrise birthday celebra-t'on in honor of their cousin. Mrs. Bertie Hannigan. Mrs. Hannigan is a granddaughter of the late Adam H. Krout. contractor and builder of Towson. who built the old public school on Chesapeake avenue, the Fendall home, the large brick house on West Chesapeake avenue, together with various other brick structures in Towson. ROCKLAND. Mrs. Emma Dagett, of Cooches Bridge, Del., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. M. L. Garrett. Miss Madaline Smith spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith, of Baltimore.
