Published every Saturday at Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland, by The Baltimore County Jeffergonian Publishing Company, Incorporated. OFFICERS. W. Gill Smith Elmer R. Haile, President. Secretary. Wm. J. Peach, Martin J. O'Hara, Vice-President. Treasurer. BOARD OF DIRECTORS John M. Dennis William J. Peach, Martin J. O'Hara, W. Gill Smith. Carville D. Benson. Elmer R. Haile, Logie Bonnett NEW ADVERTISEMENTS LOGIE BONNETT, Editor and Manager SATURDAY, MAY 22, 1920 THE DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM. The platform adopted by the Democratic State Convention will, we believe, meet with the approval of all fair minded Democrats of the State, and not a few Republicans. The accomplishment of the Wilson administration, referred to in the platform, present an unanswerable argument in favor of the continuance of administration of the national affairs by Democrats, and the great majority of American citizens irrespective of party ties will, we believe, favor the adoption of the treaty of peace without nullifying reservations, so that the United States may enter the League f Nations and use its great influence in restoring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of the world. The plank relative to the liquor question will, we feel, commend itself to the sober judgment of a vast majority of the people of the State. While insisting that the Constitutional Amendment be upheld, the Democrats of Maryland have made it plain that they favor such modifications of . the Volstead Enforcement Act as will permit of the making and drinking of cidr, light wines and beer dn the home. Unless we mistake the sentiment of the American people this will eventually be done. Th Democrats of Maryland have nominated excellent men to represent the State in the next Congrss, the party is united asi never before ,and unless all signs fail an old-fashioned Democratic majority will be rolled up for the whole ticket in November. HAS KINK IN NECK. (Continued from Page 1.) them too, all half dressed with er whisp broom hanging in ther front of their belts. HOLY MOSES! There ain't much yer Uncle Jake ever missed, and my, how he laffed when he went inter ther Towsontown postoftis one day this yer week when it was right chilly and his gol durn ole' optic visions fell on the pipeless furnace there. Four husky men was doin' ther laborous task er sorting mail and in ther middle of ther floor was er gol durn little weeny coal oil lamp what wasn't generating enough heat ter keep er canary bira, warm, and them four ancient and honorable, handsome and ugly nonsifistl-cated boobs was specting such er con-trapshun ter keep them warm. Why, it couldn't have been colder if yer mother-in-law had just poked her head in ther door and coughed. It jest made yer Uncle Jake -so plum mad thet he felt like gittin' er drill and opening up them yap's heads, lettin' ther sawdust out and then making a gol durn good fire. HO!' HO! HUM! My, my, how yer Uncle Jake laffed. On ther York Road they's got conwicks working on ther road, and besides ther ancient and honorable Jack Stafford there's ther cutest little fat guard what's all dressed up in er uniform what looks like the Queen of Sheba'si favorite hoss on dress parade. This yer particularr critter is 'bout three feet nigh, eight feet in circumference and has er double chin what would back ther one caused by ther fat lady of the circus off the map. 'Peers to yer Uncle Jake if one of them conwicks 'ud scamper off, ther only way little "Rolly-Bolly" could catch tmem 'ud be ter lay down and roll, 'cause otherwise there'd be er conglamoration between ther feet and ther stomach. ----------«.--------- Local Correspondence MT. Gaither Bldg., Balto., Md This is the suit instituted by Susanna Halbert against C. Miller and F. Miller and the unknown heirs( of C Miller and F. Miller. The object of this suit is to procure a decree removing a cloud cast upon the title of the property of Susanna Halbert by the wording of the deed from James W. Tyson and Francis T. King, devisees in trust of Isaac Tyson, is dated May 19th, 1864, and recorded s dated May 19th, 1864, and recorded among the Land Records of Baltimore County in Liber J. H. L No. 41, folio 273 and to procure a decree declaring that a good, clear and unencumbered fee simple title was conveyed by said deed to Elizabeth A. Halbert, mentioned in said deed as Elizabeth Halbert. The bill states that on May 19th, 1864, the said James W. Tyson and Francis T. King, devisee in trust of Isaac Tyslon, Jr., conveyed to Elizabeth Halbert, otherwse known as Eliza- ' beth A. Halbert, the property particularly mentioned and described in said bill; the bill sets forth the following from the preamble of the said deed: "Whereas, about November 23, 1851r said Isaac Tyson, Jr., did sell to C. and F. Miller the within described property at the rate of $20.00 per acre, payment for which was agreed to be made in the sum of $250.00 casih and the balance with legal interest thereon in three years from date, said sum of $250.00 was then paid and acknowledged by said Isaac Tyson, Jr. "And Whereas, said C. and P. Miller did on or about the year 1853 abandon the said property and have since failed to make claim thereto or to pay to said Isaac Tyson, Jr., the amount of the deferred payments] or interest due thereon. "And Whereas, the said Tyson did on or about the year 1857 agree to sell to John Halbert all his remaining interest in the property as herein described." The bill further states that by the last will and testament of said Elizabeth A. Halbert the property conveyed by King and Tyson aforesaid was. devised to Susanna Halbert; that the said Elizabeth A. Halbert considered that at the time of the purchase of the said property by her and the execution of the deed aforesaid that she was securing a clear, unencumbered and absolute title in fee simple in and to the said property; that she took immediate possession and she and her successor in title have been in absolute, actual, hostile, visible, notorious, exclusive, continuous and uninterrupted possession of said property under claim of title since the date of the execution of the deed aforesaid; that the Land Records of Baltimore County disclose no record of any deed from Isaac Tyson, Jr., or James W. Tyson and Francis T. King, devisees in trusit, to said C. Miller and F. Miller or either of them or to the heirs or assigns of them or either of them; that the said Susanna Halbert has attempted to dispose of the said property but the purchaser has refused to take title to said property claiming that the obscure wording of the said deed casts a cloud upon said property; that the said alleged cloud on said title results in great damage to the said plaintiff and the olaintiff has no adequate remedy at law; that the said C. Miller and F., Miller are to the best of the information and belief of the plaintiff nonresidents of the State of Maryand; that prior to the execution of the said deed, they disappeared and have never been heard from since; that the plaintiff does not know whether or not either or both are living or dead and whether or not they left any heirs. It is thereupon, this 21st day of April, 1920, ordered by the Circuit Co»»t f<»- Z.'ci.tt-i^.crr» C\jktii*!j~ in Utility,' that the plaintiff, by causing a copy of this order to be inserted in some newspaper, printed and published in Baltimore County once in each of four successive weeks before the 24th day of May, 1920, give notice to the said defendants of the object and substance of this bill, warning them to appear in this Court in person or by solicitor, On or before the 9th day of June, 1920, to show cause, if any they have, why a decree ought not to be passed as prayed.
