May 22, 1920—Page 10 THE JEFFERSONIAN, TOWSON, MARYLAND. TOWSQN AT A GLANCE (Continued from Page 1.) —At the Sheppard-Pratt Hospital, South Towson, on Thursday evening, commencement exercises for the training school for nurses was held, followed by a dance. —Mr. C. B. Graham, who hast been residing on W. Chesapeake avenue, will move into the house on the S. W. corner of Alleghany and Baltimore avenues. —Mr. R. Parks. —The new charter, created by a Charter Board and recently filed with the County Commissioners!, and which will be passed on by the voters this fall, is published aa an advertisement elsewhere in this issue. —Work is progressing rapidly on the excavation on the property recently acuired by Mr. W. H. Phipps; corner of York Road and Chesapeake avenue, upon which will be erected a modern store. —-That Mr. Elmer R. Haile's "flivvers" are an "easy mark" for auto jacks, there seems no doubt, for Elmer had his little Ford coupe confiscated on Wednesday while he was in the Rennert Hotel, Baltimore. —Mr. Vernon Price has taken a position at Sparrows Point. —The Supervisors of Elections met on last Tuesday to pay all bills pertaining to the recent Primary Election. The entire expense was about $2000 less* than was anticipated. —A minstrel show and movies, "Throbs and Thrils," will be given under the auspices of the Black & Decker Mfg. Co. at the Columbia Movie Theatre here on Wednesday evening next, commencing at 8.15 o'clock. Admission will be 25 cents. —The minstrel show "staged" by the Black & Decker organization and the dance given at the High School here lasit night was largely attendd and a neat sum realized. The affair was gotten up to secure funds to pay the advance incidental expenses of Chautauqua. —Mr. Francis A. Smith, at one time "devil" at The Jeffersonian office, took a long leap on last Saturday night, when he became the husband of Miss Erma Swain, of Baltimore. In these times of the H. C. L., Francis had a great deal of grit to promise the preacher all that he did. —The funeral of Mr Lewis S. Cole, brother of Clerk of the Court Wm. P. Cole, who was Assistant Superintendent of the House of Correction at Jes-sop, and who died on Sunday last of heart trouble, took place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Towson, on Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted first at his late home at Jessop, Md. —The new building being erected at the foot of Washington avenue, by the Baltimore City Printing and Binding Co., is nearing completion. It was expected that the concern could move its equipment from Baltimore by May 1, but -weather conditions prevented the ¦completion. It is understood an effort will be made to have 'the building ready by June 1st. —The motor truck sent out to Cleveland by the Black & Decker Mfg. Co. returned on Friday last, loaded with material used in the manufacture of products at the Towson Heights pla,nt. It left again this week for Cleveland and from there to Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a consignment of drills. On its return from these two points it will bring another cargo of Supplies. —The policy of giving four Thrift Stamps each week for prompt attendance to all the employeesi paid on an hourly basis has been discontinued by the 'Black & Decker Mfg. Co. Instead, the company will open a book in the name, of each employee in the Towson Heights Building Association. The book will be made out for four shares. and the entrance fee of $1.00 be paid by the company. The four shares will represent practically the same asi four Thrift Stamps. NEW ADVERTISEMENTS.
