Calvert Steuart is spending ti.e week-end at Atlantic City. —Mr. Samuel A. Green is; now sporting a brand new Vehlie touring car. —Mr. Jarrett Lee with some friends motored to "Westminster on Sunday last. -—Wedding bells will ring out on W. Pennsylvania avenue in the early fall. —Miss May Gray, of Philadelphia, spent Decoration Day with her parents here. —Miss Susie Bayne, of Wasshington, spent a few days with her mother here! —Only a small attendance was noted at the Taxpayer's League meeting held Tuesday. —Mr. John Van Horn, of Alexandria, Va., spent the past week-end with his parents here. —Mr. James E. Dunphy, of the Union-News staff, has been confined to his home with illness. —Mr. Geo. Dawson, clerk in the Court Drug Store, is confined to his home in Baltimore with illness. —While driving the automobile of her father, Miss Mildred Schuler on Tuesday became excited and crashed into a tree, which resulted in the breaking a bone in the middle of her right hand. —Mr. J. Isaac Holbrook, of Harri-sonville, qualified this week as Appraiser of the Orphan's Court here. —Mr. Sam P. Cassen and others left for Detroit early this week, from which place they will drive motor carsi back. —Miss Muriel Grunewald, of Govans, is substituting at the Towston National Bank, in the place of Miss Mildred Schuler. —Mrs. Earle, who spent some time as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Prank Hudson, left for her home in Ohio oil Thursday. —Mr. Youst, who purchased the house at the northeast corner of Pennsylvania and Bosley avenues, moved into same this week. —The children of the Parochial School of the Church of the Immaculate here, held the annual May procession on Sunday last. —Mrs. Wm. E. Treadwell, formerly Miss Nellie Schuler, will arrive in Towson on Tuesday to spend a month with her parents here —The Parmer's Federation of Baltimore Count held a meeting in the Court House on Tuesday, at which! a constitution was adopted. —On the property of Mr. John E. Hurst at Woodbrook, on Sunday last. a fence fire was) extinguished by the Towson Fire Engine Company. —Mr. William and Calvin Van Horn have "shipped" for Jamaica, having assumed new duties with the Merchant's and Miners' Transportation Co. —A banquet and dance will be given by the Alumni Association of the Towson High School to the graduating class on the evening of June 24th. —County Commissioner Wm. F. Coghlan, who missed a meeting or two of the Board last week, due to sickness, was back on the job this week. —Announcement has been made that a professional pianist has been engaged to "tickle the ivory" on the piano at the Columbia Movie Theatre here. —Dame Rumor has it that J. P. Pagle, -who for some time has been the station agent at Towson for the Md. & Pa. R. R. Reports; of the work since last October were made. —Mr. Paul Cassen received his degree of Bachelor of Arts at the Lyric Theatre. Cook's name has been mentioned as a likely appointee of Governor Ritchie to the office of State Superintendent of .Schools if the Governor decides to drop Dr. M. Bat?.s Stevens. —At a meeting o/ the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday it wasl decided to install a sewerage p:ant at the Alms House, now known as the Baltimore County Home for Sick Indigent. —Judge Walter W. Preston, the new Asisociate Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit, recently appointed by the Governor to succeed Judge Allen Mc-Lane, who resigned, sat with Chief Judge Offutt in a case at Towson on Tuesday. —A delegation from the Hampstead-H< reford Good Roads Association waited on the County Commissioners and urged that the Hampstead-Hereford road be rebuilt under the new road plan embodied in the recent act of Assembly. Mrs. Gladys D. Reckord, through her attorneys, L. C. Machen and A. A. Piper, filed an answer to the suit brought by her husband, Edward P. Reckord, of Cockeysville, recently for an absolute divorce. She denies all allegations-'and asks for alimony and counsel fees. —Having lost their costumes and scenery in a railroad wreck, the members of the company who played "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" at the Chautauqua on Tuesday night went through their "stunts" minus "makeup," costumes and scenery did well considering the handicap: —Mr. James H. Smith,, 68 years old, for a number of years employed at the mills at Warren, this county, and steward of the Warren M. E. Church, died on Sunday last at Eudowood Sanitarium, Towson. Mr. Smith is survived by two spns, Charles and Clarence E. Smith, of Cockeysville. ----When it comes to "freaks of nature," Mrs. A. C. Kaline left at the office of The "Jeff" office yesterday (Friday) an egg- laid by a chicken in which there was another full size egg. The outer shell was cracked and was of mammoth size, while the one on the inside was about the usual aize of a hen egg. —Mr. George C. Bangs will open next week a tire vulcanizing plant in the little building formerly occupied by Justice Hopkins, on West Chesapeake avenue. —As has been his cusjtom for a number of years, Col. George Seipp decorator] the graves of old soldiers at Prospect Hill Cemetery here on Decoration Day. We are informed that some people are so unscrupulous that nearly all the markers on the old soldiers' graves in the cemetery here have been carried away, for what rea-sji we do not know. —On the charge of stealing $30 from nurses at the Sheppard-Pratt Hospital here, Ada Jones and Hilda Toulson, both colored, were committed to the Towson Jail one day this week by Justice John T. Hopkinsl to await the action of the grand jury. The women were arrested as they left the Baltimore City Jail, after . serving six months for stealing clothing. —Harry M. Rathell and Joseph T. Sinnott were appointed members of the county police force by the County Commissioners this week. The action was taken on recommendation of the Police Examining Board, established by the recent General Assembly.
