THE JEFFERSONfAN, TOWSON, MARYLAND. October 16, 1920-Page 5 TEACHERS HOLD MEETING Advocates For And Against The New Charter Have Say. Salaries Are Discussed. Teachers' salaries and county charter were discussed last Saturday at the annual meeting of the Teachersf Association of Baltimore County at the city office of the Board of Education. To prevent further shortage 'in the teaching force and keep its morale at the present standing it was the opinion of the teachers that Baltimore county must pay its teachers at least as much as Baltimore City; It was determined to arrange a schedule of salaries to present to the School Board at its next meeting. Major Randolph Barton spoke for the charter, former Judge N. Charles Burke opposed it, and Prof. Albert S. Cook, State Superintendent of Schools, discussed it from the standpoint of education. In the general discussion the teachers made much of the fact that a most progressive system of schools has been developed and maintained under the present government. The following, officers were elected: President, Miss M. Ellen Logan; vfice-president, Miss Emma L. Wilson; recording secretary, Miss Ellen H. Gray; Corresponding secretary, Miss Mary O. Ebaugh; treasurer, Wlilliam *B. Kemp.
