Gentry, who before fire wrecked the building at Pennsylvania Avenue and York Road, Tow-son, operated a lunch room and meat market, has leased two of the store rooms in the new brick building being erected by Mrs. Anna M. Clasping a girl by the hand on each side of him, Luther Thomas Vaughan, 27, sank to his death in the waters of Stony Creek, off Altoona Beach. ~ The two girls, Miss Ella Holden, 1023 North Bond street, Baltimore city, and her sister, Miss May H. Holden, 15, who were pulled under the water when Vaughan went down, were rescued. A second bathing fatality was averted at Sandy Beach when three youths who had learned to swim only last week rescued Eugene Stone, 41, proprietor of a service station at Reisterstown road and Rose avenue. When Vaughan drowned Miss May Holden was saved by her brother, Vance Holden, 20, who saw the trio disappear beneath the surface. He dived and clutched his sister, who had released her hand from Vaug-han's grip. Miss Ella Holden was rescued with greater difficulty by a bather whose identity was not learned. She was almost exhausted when brought ashore and was confined to her bed. Vaughan, Holden and the latter's two sisters had gone to the beach by automobile. Shortly after the boat reached the wharf they were in the water. Clasping hands, the two girls and Vaughan started to wade out toward deep water. Suddenly they stepped off an underwater ledge and went under. Vaughan, witnesses said, never reappeared. Many bathers dived in after him, but none could locate him. All efforts of divers to find the body later also were futile. It was not recoov-ered until the police boat Robert D. The coroner at Glenburnie issued ,a certificate of death by accidental drowning. Vaughan was an automobile mechanic and lived at 3633 Cottage avenue. His parents, who live in Richmonod, were notified of his death. WILL OF JOSEPH H. FITE PROBATED. The will of Jseph H. Fite was probated in the Orphans' Court at Towson. He bequeaths $100 to his daughter, Lida J. Fite, and the residue of his estate to his widow, Mrs. Susan L. Fite, who is appointed executrix of the will. BOUNDARY LINE FOR METROPOLITAN SUB-DISTRICT NO. 2 ESTABLISHED. The County Commissioners have established the boundaary lines of metropolitan sub-district No. 2 at Essex, including a section along the Eastern avenue boundary line of Baltimore city, and for which a public water supply will be provided. The Commissioners will sit Monday, July 28, at the Court House at Towson, for a preliminary hearing, giving an opportunity for residents of the district to be heard. J. Wickes, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, is sporting a brand new "tin chariot." ODD FELLOWS INSTALL OFFICERS AT DUNDALK. Harry Kerber was installed noble grand of Helena Lodge No. 117, I. O. O. F., of Dundalk, at an installation conducted by G. D. Maxwell and staff of the Grand Lodge of Maryland. Other officers installed for six months were Vice-Grand Clinton Morris, Past Grand George Bram-ford and Secretary William Campbell. ----------o---------- ESSEX MAN MADE DEFENDANT IN $10,000 SUIT FIILED AT COUNTY SEAT. A suit was filed in the Circuit Court at Towson by Anna Marko-wicz against Howard J. Horn, of Essex, for $10,000 damages for personal injuries alleged to have been received by being run down by the defendant's automobile on June 15 on Eastern avenue. Attorneys Alexander J. Miss Agnes Kelley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kelley, oof Towson, is at Ocean City, Md. ----------o---------- COURT AUDITOR WEDS. Mrs. Katherine C. McClean, widow of Col. Charles B. McClean, was quietly married to R. Grason George, auditor of the Circuit Court for Baltimore county. The ceremony was performed in Washington. They will make their home on East Joppa Road, Towson. ----------o---------- MEN'S COMMUNITY BIBLE CLASS DEFEATS THE B. & D. TEAM. The Men's Community Bible Class of Towson defeated the Black & Decker team of Towson in a very closely contested game by the score of 4 to 1. The feature of the game was the pitching of Ritter of the Bible Class team, who allowed the losers but one hit and turned ten of them back by the strike-out route. The Bible Class will play the Baltimore Tigers today (Saturday) at 3 P. M. in Towson. An automobile owned by F. O. Hawkins of Liberty Heights, was whecked when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree on the Rolling road, near Wilkens avenue. Mr. Hawkins was slightly cut and bruised by the impact. COMMUNITY SERVICES WELL ATTENDED. The Towson community services on the High School grounds on Sunday evening last was well attended, and it was an inspiring and interesting meeting. Rev. Mr. Riddle, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, presided. Rev. Milson Thomas led the singing; Rev. Henry B. Lee, Jr., of the Episcopal Church, read the Scripture lesson; prayer was offered by Rev. Richard W. Wickes, of the Baptist Church, and the sermon was delivered by Rev. Mark Depp, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church. His subject was "The stature of a man," and he asked and answered the questions: "What should be his convictions " What his charities, and what his ideals." It was a very inspiring sermon and received most favorable comment after the meeting ended. A duet was rendered most effectively by Rev. and Mrs. Thomas, and the benediction was pronounced by Rev. Samuel F. Cassen, pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church, These meetings will be continued throughout July and August, and everyone is invited to attend them.
