A deed was filed at Towson by which Agnes M, McLane conveyed a lot on Hillendale avenue at Lans-downe, to August J. Besker and wife. Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah J. Waidner were held at her homt. Services were conducted by the Rev. E. C. Powers, of Catonsville Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Clarence E. Wise, of St. Mark's Methodist Church, Forest Park. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Waidner is survived by eight children, Harry and John F. Waidner, Mrs. William Garwood, Mrs. John W. Miles, Mrs. Dr. N. L. Nitdenthol, Mrs. Sarah J. Miles and Miss Mary B. and Miss Esther M. Waidner, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. ----------o---------- GAME-BIRD HUNTING SEASON OPENS IN STATE. DEATH OF MRS. HENRY LAUER LEADS TO $20,000 SUIT. The game-bird hunting season has opened in Maryland. It is now lawful to hunt shore birds, yellow legs and black-breasted and golden plover, which are said by State Game Warden E. Lee Le Compte to be plentifufl. The season for squirrel, rail and reed birds opens September 1. There is a second period for hunting squirrels which opens November 10. The suit was filed by Mrs. Estelle C. Nichols, daughter and administratrix of Mrs. Lauer's estate. In the suit Mrs. Nichols charges that her mother was struck by an automobile operated by Miss Rosner the night of May 27. Mrs. Lauer was found unconscious on Sudbrook avenue, near the railroad bridge in Sudbrook Park. On the night of the death of Mrs. Lauer, Miss Rosner appeared at the Pikesville Police Station and said that on the previous night she had struck something near the spot where Mrs. Lauer was found, but could not tell what it was in the darkness. A coroner's jury meeting in the Northeastern Police Station issued a verdict that Mrs. Lauer died "from causes unknown, probably from being struck by an automobile, the driver of whom is unknown to the jury." ----------o---------- ADVERTISING MEN HOLD OUTING. Members of the Advertising Club of Baltimore and their friends held an outing and entertainment Wednesday at the Maryland Swimming Club, on Colgate Creek. A baseball game between the fat men and the lean men or the organization was a feature. There were canoe and boat races and a swimming and diving exhibition. At night there was an elimination dancing contest. GEORGE ADAMS MADE DEFENDANT IN $2000 SUIT FILED AT COUNTY SEAT. A suit was filed in Court at Towson by iams against George Rosemont, for $2000 the Circuit George Will : Adams, of damages for damage alleged to have been done to the plaintiff's automobile as a result of the defendant's machine colliding with the machine of the plaintiff at the corner of Butaw street and North Avenue, Baltimore city, on the 23rd day of last June. Davis and Evans, appear for the plaintiff. COUNTY EMPLOYEES ON VACATION. G. William Parker and Henry S. Koch, of the offLce of the Clerk of the Circuit Court at Towson are now on their vacation. ----------o---------- WHITE PUBLIC SCHOOL TO OPEN SEPT. 15; COLORED SEPT. 1. The white public schools of Baltimore county will reopen on September 15, and the colored schools on September 1. An institute for teachers will be held September 1 to 12 inclusive at the State Normal School at Towson. Clarence G. Cooper, Superintendent of county schools, will be in charge, and will be assisted by a corps of instructors. ---------------o—¦--------- 400 ACRES OF LAND IN "LOWER END" CHANGES HANDS. $25,000 DAMAGE SUIT FILED AS RESULT OF ACCIDENT. Suit for $25,000 damages was filed in the Circuit Court at Towson against Hugh Herring by Annie Morgan, widow of James Morgan. According to the declaration Jas. Morgan, while operating a bicycle along the York Road, near Gittings avenue, on July 2 last was struck and knocked down by the defendant's automobile, causing injuries which subsequently resulted in his death. ----------o---------- SPENDING VACATION AT GETTYSBURG. Miss Annie Wright, who is connected with the Baltimore County Board of Education, is spending her vacation at Gettysburg, Pa. ----------o---------- PASSES 90TH MILESTONE. Mrs. Craumer, mother of W. C. Craumer, president of The Towson National Bank, celebrated her 90th birthday this week. ----------o---------- HUDSON COACH AND 5 GALLONS OF ' 'FIREWATER1' SEIZED IN TOWSON. "Jim" Shea and a man in army uniform by name of Johnson are out on bail following a tilt with prohibition enforcement officers, and will appear on August 29th on charges of transporting "firewater." Wolf, his wife, convey to the Brighton Bay Corporation a tract of land on the Chesapeake Bay containing over1 400 acres. The deed recites a nominal consideration of five dollars, but the revenue stamps affixed to the deed would indicate an actual consideration of about $275,000. ----------o---------- MISS HELEN E. Miss Katharine Downes, of Centreville, a cousin of the* bride, was maid of honor. Hamline Maginnis, of Baltimore, was best man. The bride, a graduate of Goucher College, is the daughter of the late Doctor and Mrs. Holliday H. Hayden. Mr. Parker, a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University and a member of the faculty of the City College, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. His funeral took place from the home of his sister, Mrs. Turner, with services at Bethel Presbyterian Church and burial in the church cemetery.
