Ben Gorfine, proprietor of Gorfme's House Furnishing Store; Albert Silverman, proprietor of The Tow-son Confectionery Store, and Ellis Finkelstein, proprietor of The Tow-son Bargain Store, had a ride the other night that rivaled that of the famous Paul Revere. It appears that Finkelstein purchased a brand new Ford Sedan and in the spirit of admiration invited Gcrfine and Silverman to take the first ride. All went well until the little culvert on the York Road at Sparks was reached. Here "Lizzie" began to cough, get the hic-coughs and shivers and her circulation of blood was anything but normal. In endeavoring to turn, both "Lizzie and Finkelstein became extremely nervous and as a consequence' "Lizzie" became rambunctious, turned over on her back, while Gorfine and Silverman in their mad haste jumped head first through the windows, leaving some of Uieir hide attached to "Lizzie." While Finkelstein has pledged himself to stick by "Lizzie" to the last, Gorfine and Silverman have sworn to use "Shank's Mare" for the rest of their days. GEO. D. The poultry department of the coming Timonium Fair, September 1st to 6th, is under the supervision of Howard S. Thompson, Hamilton, Md., and the judges will be A. Mowell, Reisterstown; W. W. Lauder, Hamilton; George O. Brown, Baltimore, and Charles Smith, of Boone, Md. Owing to the large number of exhibitors in the various classes, which comprise in addition to chickens of every variety, turkeys, geese and ducks, entries to this department closed at the comparatively early date of Aug. 13, so as to give ample time for classification. Among the forty varieties of chickens named are Barred Plymouth Rocks, White Plymouth Rocks Buff Plymouth Rocks and A. O. V. Plymouth Rocks; Jersey Black Giants; White and A. O. V. Wyan-dottes; S. C. and R. C. Rhode Island Reds; Brahmas, Cochins, Langshans, Leghorns, Minoorcas, Andalusians, Anconas, Orpington, Sussex, Cornish, Poolish, Hamburgs, Games and Bantams. An interesting feature of this department will be the exhibits of members of the Junior Poultry Club, each entry to consist of two pullets and a cockerel. These will be judged by the veteran fancier, G. O. Brown, who will be present daily to discuss poultry raising with Club members. This is one of the most attractive departments at the Fair, and always delights throngs of visitors, who are amazed at the wonderful advances made in the last few years.
