Measure Introduced In Legislature Urges Governor To Appoint
Committee To Co-Operate In Arranging For Anniversary
Of First Steam Road.
(From the Annapolis Correspondent of The Jeffersonian)
Participation of the State of Maryland in the centennial celebration In 1927 of the founding of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the first steam railroad in the world, that had its initial tryout from Baltimore to Elli-cott City through Baltimore county is provided for in a resolution introduced in the Legislature.
The resolution seeks appointment by the Governor of a Baltimore and Ohio Centennial Commission to con-

Power Plant witfi a
4"Cycle Engine and Standard Generator
A plant large enough to supply average country home needs. Simple in construction and practically trouble-proof. A child of 12 can operate it. Weighs less than 100 pounds — takes up very little space, can be located anywhere in your buildings, moved from spot to spot, if you wish
Lights 17 twenty-watt lamps at a cost of only 2 cents an hour for gasoline. And just think — you can get this wonderfully efficient plant for about half the price of any other farm light plant with direct-connected 4-cycle engine, standard generator and equivalent equipment.

Among the U. S. Marines recently assigned to duty in Central America, is Joseph James Vlach nephew of Mrs. Nina Bell, of Fullerton, who Is now a member of the American Legation guard at Managua, Nicaragua, according to official reports from Marine Corps Headquarters at Washington.
Joseph joined the Marine Corps at* Baltimore last December, and was stationed at Parris Island, S. C, for several weeks. Recently he embarked on a naval vessel for Nicaragua, where he will probably remain for a year or longer before returning to the United States.
A small guard of U. S. Marines has been stationed at Nicaragua since 1912, when they occupied that country to restore order during a revolution. Although they are far from home, the Marines find many ways of entertaining themselves. They go in for baseball and other sports, and even print their own newspaper. The country abounds in game and hunting is one of the favorite past-times. No doubt young Vlach will have many interesting adventures to recount when he returns home. -----------o-----------

JUDGE DUNCAN TO RETURN APRIL 1ST.
sist of seven members who will serve without compensation and who will be expected to co-operate with the railroad, the city of Baltimore and with any civic or commercial organization desiring to participate in the celebration.
"Proper recognition" by Maryland of the "historic incidents connected with the origin of the first railroad system in this country which virtually Inaugurated a method of transportation vital not only to the State but the country as well and which has developed and expanded into a railroad aggregating more than 250,000 miles in the United States" is asked.
The resolution recalls that Maryland on February 28, 1827, granted the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad the first railroad charter in the United States for a general freight and passenger business and that the engineering work was begun with exercises at which the "first stone" was laid by Charles Carroll of Carrollton, "an eminent citizen of Maryland and the last surviving signer of the Declaration if Independence."
Exact date of the celebration has not been decided upon. It is considered likely it will be July 4, 1927.
