A terror no longer, the old German raider Kronprinz Wilhelm will soon be on the "junk heap," for a skeleton crew has her anchored off the Baltimore county water front. Since the war, the Kronprinz Wilhelm has been renamed the Von Steuben. She is more than 600 feet long and will be scrapped at the local plant of the Boston Iron and Metal Company, her owners. The former raider made her first appearance n American waters about January, 1915. Immediately reports of the sinking of French and British ships began coming in. Arriving at the Canary Islands, the German steamer Atavi landed 100 French and English sailors. She re-porJ the men had been transferred t' ,r by the Kronprinz Wilhelm, w$fch had sunk the four ships from whch they came. French and British warships were sent immediately to this side of the Atlantic to capture the raider, but were unsuccessful. In February more than 250 men were landed at different ports with the report that their ships had been sunk by the Kronprinz Wilhelm. Reports show that during her career as a raider she sank more than 25 French and British ships on ths side of the Atlantic. Forced to dock because of defective boilers, and leaking, the Kronprinz Wilhelm limped into Newport News April 13, 1915, and applied for 15 days in which to make repairs. Permisson was granted by the American Government and repairs were begun. In the meantime, a fleet of French and English ships of war gathered outside the harbor entrance to await the raider's Goming out. Lieutenant-Commander Thierfeldt, in NEGRO ARRESTED IN AUTO WITH ALLEGED ALCOHOL. command of the ship, and his crew were taken ill, however, and the interning of the raider was necessitated. The Kronprnz Wilhelm interned in the same berth occupied formerly by the Prince Eitel Frederich, another German raider. -----------o----------- OLDEST COUNTY POLICEMAN DIES AT OELLA HOME. Thomas L. He was turned over to prohibition authorities when the second charge was disposed of, according to Richard Stapleton, magistrate of Halethorpe Police Station. Russell, who gave his address as 1048 Six-and-a-half street northwest, Washington, said the alleged alcohol belonged to Edward Brown, negro, Four-and-a-half street southwest. The negro had been stopped, according to Dunn, and was returning to the police station with the patrolman when he turned down a side road in an attempt to escape. They —the dear women folks of their kind—would be too anxious to get out and look into the store windows. But never mind about ground hogs—whether they are weather precursors—or any other kind of "cursors"—it makes no difference to "Mose"—for He is making room for His New Spring Stock of "Kahn's Good Kiothes"—"Mose's" own good make—and He is almost giving the balance of His good Winter Suits and Overcoats away. At these low prices for these good Suits and Overcoats, it will pay any man to buy them and "store" them away for next winter. When you want something good—like Clothing or Furniture or Jewelry never go to a faker.
