| Saturday, January 19, 1924—Page 16 THE JEFFERSONIAN, TOWSON, MARYLAND MEN, NOW GONE WEEK, HAVE DISAPPEARED AS COMPLETELY AS IF EARTH SWALLOWED THEM. (Continued from Page 1) ing of Mr. Norris and who, with Hart and the rect of the "gang" were sentenced to life imprisonment in the "pen." Notwithstanding the fact that a massive steel bar in one of the prison windows facing the street and 75 feet above the ground was forced, Charles M. Anderson, an architect, who had charge of the construction of cells, and all barred windows at the Penitentiary, stated to a representative of The Jeffersonian that he had read every word of the escape published, looked at the pictures, studied the descriptions, and is convinced two men with but a bar of iron could not have bent the bars in the window in the way necessary for an escape. Mr. Anderson said the steel was made by the Van Dorn Company, of Cleveland, and is the finest grade, such as has been used i nthe biggest prisons in all parts of the country, and has everywhere resisted every effort to bend or break it. He added: "Before putting that steel in we gave it every test. No man without a ladder could have foothold enough to enable him to bend the bars as described in the papers. There was no fault in the construction and no blame can be placed upon our designing or the work." Many believe that Hart and Tilson are still hiding in this community, ignorant of the fact that they had seven hours lead on prison officials and the police, and are waiting for! the "seven days wonder" to die down before making a break for parts unknown. The passage of time would also give them chance to grow moustaches and beards. Police admit Hart will be a dangerous man to capture. By this time he is heavily armed and will fight to death before he again submits to being locked up for the balance of his life. During the week, numerous telephone messages were received at Police headquarters in the Court House at Towson, stating that the escaped convicts had been seen in various communities, but the authorities, knowing Hart to be a clever criminal, feel sure he "hopped" the first freight and is hiding in some distant place. -----------?---------- ENTERTAINS AID SOCIETY. United Moioftl HARRISON In This Way Poison Antiseptics Are Kept Out Of Reach In Darkness—Now Being- Used By Builders Of Modern Homes. Every member of the family has his or her own favorite toilet or medicinal preparation or device, and the bathroom cabinet becomes woefully overtaxed for room unless some provision is made beforehand to build in a bathroom cabinet which amply serves all of the family needs. According to the American Builder, one firm has placed a built-in bathroom cabinet on the market which contains so many useful and unusual features that it is sure to meet with the approval of architects, builders and homeowners generally. The cabinet is finished with white enamel that matches the usual bathroom finish and appointments. It has a door, with a large mirror in its face; ample cupboard space; a compartment with a secret lock, to keep dangerous drugs and poisonous antiseptics out of the hands of the children. Then there are ample drawers for small articles, a drawer for the manicure outfit, etc. Also contained in this unique cabinet is an extension table of porcelain baked on iron, and a drawer for clean wash rags and towels, or for brushes, sponges, sprayers, etc. At the bottom is a chute receiver for soiled linens, which carry it down to the basement or to the laundry room. Any mother can appreciate how much this saves in labor, especially after the kiddies have their baths and towels and discarded clothing litter the bathroom otherwise. The rumor that has been going its rounds, to the effect that an attempt would be made to make drastic changes in the Road Law of Baltimore County during the present session of the Legislature, is only a rumor, for, from a very reliable source The Jeffersonian has been informed that there is "nothing to it."
