| EX-EMPEROR WIL HELM BURNED IN EF-FIGY IN INDIA.—A Hindu custom that has en dured from time immemorial is that of burning figures representing Rav-na. the demon God of Ceylon, who during the World War had been identified in the popular mind with the German Emperor, now in exile at Doom, Holland. The custom was Intermitted after 1919 owing to the popular feeling against British rule, but in 1923 it was resumed in Minto Park, near the Fort of Lahore. India, in the presence of a multitude of 200,000 people. COLONY OP CAVE DWELLERS IN ENGLAND.—At Kinver, near Sturbridge, Worcestershire, Eng.. a considerable number of people have built their homes in the side of a great cliff of red sandstone. The caves have been hollowed by the beating of the sea and extend A. considerable distance into the rock. These cave dwellers pay rent, rates and taxes. DISTINGUISHED "DIRT FARMERS" ENGAGED IN MILKING CONTEST.- -Senator Magnus Johnson of Minnesota, who prides himself on his ability as a farmer, recently challenged Secretary of Agriculture Wallace to a milking contest. The secretary accepted the defi and won out by half a pint, General Tasker H. Bliss acting as timekeeper to insure fair play. With three gallon pails between their knees the eminent farmers worked like mad, and the contest was not decided until the last minute.
