This property comprehends two Grist Mills, with lire run of stones on the most modern and approved principle, together with ft complete set of machinery, such as lecvators for wheat and (lour, conveyors, hop- per-bags and kreens, agreeably to the latest improvements of Evans's system. The Bolt- ing Cloths are new, and the whole in excellent repair. Situated in the vicinity of so import- ant a market as New-York, and on so respect, able a navigation as Hudson river, the only route for the produce of the Northern and Western World, a facility of purchasing the wheat, at the mill, and of sending the produce to market, is here experienced to art extent which no other situation can boast of. From 40 to 50,000 bushels of wheat has been manu- facturif! annually between March and January, and fiom 60 to 70,000 could with equal ease be ground were the winter swison excluded, which of late years has been so mild that the interruption ot the navigation has seldom been of long continuance. THE Pelican Life-insurance Company, of London, was established in the year 1797, by a numerous and respectable prop ietary, upon an extensive capital, vested in the public funds, with the additional responsibility of every individual proprietor. The board of directors, inconsequence of repeated applica- tions on th« subject, havingdcterai;ncd io ex- tend their engagements to the continent of America, deem it proper briefly to suggest to the minds of the public, the numerous and important benefits resulting from such an in- stitution to every rank and class of society. Persons in the receipt of income arising from estates dependent upon life—profits in business—offices, civil or military—by the yearly payment of a moderate premium, may secure at their death an adequate provision tor their families, relations or friends. Fines payable on leases, renewable at the death of particular persons, may be provided for by in- suring the lives of such persons. Insurance aflonts the means of reimbursement to those who advance money upon life-annuities, and in many cases furnishes ample security for the loan of money.
