The Diana packet from New York, arri-
ved at Falmouth the 18th March.
The schr* Industry, Hall of Scarborough,
sailed from New-York 9th inst. for Norfolk
—soon after sailing lost the capt..overboard,
and drifted to sea with only one person on
fcoard. The next day the schr. Morning
Star, of Scituate, fell in with her, manned
and both arrived at Holmes Hole, 17th inst.

riment, of and from New York, bound to
Londonderry, having shipped a sea which
stove her long boat, and washed away her
jolly boat. Captain M'Crandell hoisted out
his long boat in order to supply them with
water, which could not be done, having al-
ready stove the long boat in making the at-
tempt, whereupon he left her with a fair
wind for her destined port.

K-quested him to come on b.iard, but he re-
fu&ed, and .^signed for reason, that the
Franklin was destined for Barracoa, that he
had valuables on board for that place, and
that he was then out eighteen hours.

Thomas. Left there on the 7th instant,
arhr. Fame, Dangerfield, of and for Alexan-
dria.' to sad in 2 days ; ship Mary, Case, of
New-Bedford, put in in distress, bound for

Yesterday morning, about 2 o'clock, the
•hip Betsy, capt. Treadwell, ofNew.York,
v,-as discovered to be on fire at Murray's
wharf. The fasts were immediately cut,
and it being ebb tide, the ship drifted down

An unknown accident has prevented the
arrival of papers by the Eastern mail to-day.
The only election account from New-York,
is, that in the first ward, Lewis, tor gover-
nor, had a majority, of 198; Jones, senator,

It was rumoured last week, that the vic-
torious commander of the Russian army,
who goes by the name of general Bennigsen,
is the celebrated Moreau, and that Barklay
de Tolly, who commanded the rear guard of
the Russian army, and lost one of his arms
in the late action, is also a foreigner. This
brave man is stated to be a native of Hiber-
nia—he is called by the Russians—the brave
Irishman—his real name is said to be Tooley.
