The pravaHing disposition to encourage the
progress of Literature- -the peculiar favor
¦which St Mary's College has enjoyed—and
the many splendid chances offered to adven-
turers by t-he above scheme, induce the ma-
nagers to anticipate a rapid sale of the tickets.
The drawing will commence as soon as a suf-
ficient number is sold to authorize it. _ The
managers have given bond to the state in. the
penalty of sixty thousand dollars, for the faith-
ful payment of the prizes, which will he paid
subject to a deduction of 15 per cent, 30 day,
after the drawing is finished. Prizes no de-
manded within a twelve-month from the tcom
pletion of the drawing, will be considered as
a donation to the College.

L O T T E R Y.
THE subscribers having been appointed by
the members of said society, managers of a lot-
tery, authorised by the general assembly of
Maryland, intend to raise a sum of money to
aid the fund* of said society m extending fur-
ther relief to the indigent widow*, and helpless
orphans, offer to the public the following

From the above Scheme, it appears tba
there are less than two Blanks to a Prize; and
that the Prizes are to be paid without deduction
The advantages offered, to adventurers, and
the very charitable object to which the money
is to be applied, induce the Managers to hope,
that a speedy sale of the tickets will enable
them to commence drawing at an early day.
All prizes will be paid in sixty days after the
completion of the drawing, and such prizes as
iue not demanded within twelve months, will
be considered as generous donations to the
truly charitable object of the Lottery.
Tickets may be had of the Managers, and
such other persons as they m.iy appoint to sell.

and establish lha metes and bounds of a lot
oi parcel of Land, nov* in my possession ; be-
ing part of a tract of Land called Cole's Har-

guous to the city of Baltimore.

New Patent Invention.
The subscribers respectfully inform the ii*.
habitants of the city of Baltimore, that they
have purchased the Patent right of Simon
Willard, jun.'s Patent Washing Machine, and
that they will keep a constant supply on hand,
at the corner ol'Sharp and Barre-streets, near
the head of the Bason, tor the sity but not
for the county of Baltimore. The subscribers
are also empowered bv the patentee to dis-
pose of rights within the stale of Maryland,
except the counties of Washington and Balti-
more, and to sell the counties of York and
Lancaster in Pennsylvania, one right to each
county, and that they will supply the inha-
bitants of the abnve mentioned places with a
single Machine, or any number, from twelve
to thirteen dollars oach.
This Machine will wail at least 8 shirts
quicker than a woman can one,1 and will save
one-third of the Soap ; and no one can ima-
gine that it can wear the clothes half as
much as rubbing by hand. It is managed
very easily by one person, and will with any
kuid of clothes, from the largast coverlet, to
the smallest articles. None are requested to
buy until they have proved the Machine to
be equal to the description. The patent was
obtained from government, on the 25th of
April 18o7.

100 Dollars Reward.
RAN away some time in December laot,
two Negro Men, GEORGE k HOPEWELL
—George is about 28 years of age, very stout
made, and very black ; has a down look when
spoken to. He worked sometime with Mr.
Warner, the brick-maker, in Baltimore, and
it is thought he went to sea from Fell's-Point.
His cloathing is not recollected. Also, Negro
HOPEWELL, about 22 years of age, about
live feet six inches high, rather stout made,
and very black ; has a bold look when spoken
to. He sailed in the Havre-de-Grace Packet
from Baltimore, and it is probable he is at the
head of the bay. Fifty dollars will be paid to
any person for taking up either of said negroes
and delivering them to me in Somerset county,
in Maryland, or securing them in Baltimore
goal, so that I get them again,

This is to give notice,
THAT the subscriber, of the city of Balti-
more, hath obtained from the orphans' court
of Baltimore county, in Maryland, letters tes-
tamentary on the .personal estate of David
Oldden, late of Baltimore aforesaid, deceased.
All persons having claims against the said de-
ceased, are hereby warned to exhibit the
same, with the vouchers thereof, to the sub-
scriber, at or belore the 10th day of July next,
they may otherwise, by law, be excluded from
all benefit of the said estate ; and tluree indebt-
ed are requested to make immediate payment.
Given under my hand, this sixth day of Janua-
ry, in die year of our Lord, one thousand eight
hundred and seven.

Fifty Dollars Reward.
Ranaway the twenty-first day of May from
the subscriber, liviag in Prince-George's
county, Maryland, about 4 milsjs from Alex-
andria ferry, Negro NED, and sometimes
calls himself EDWARD FLAFY, 30 years
old, a small slender made negro, a black-
smith by trade, and can read and write.—
He has a bright mulatto woman at Alexan-
dria, called Rachel, for a wife, and has four
or fivn children by her—the woman is or
was the property of Miss Contee. 1 cannot
describe liia dress as he had a variety of
good clothes. Any person apprehending the
said negro and securing him in jail so that I
get him again, shall receive if taken within
ten miles from home Ten dollars, if forty
miles Thirty Dollars, auj if a greater dis-
tance the above reward and all reasonable
expences if brought home.

Forty Dollars Reward.
Went away on the 5th instant, a small ne-
gro BOY named JIM, about 13 years of age,
four feet six or seven inches high, of a yel.
low eomplexion, weak and inflamed eyes, k
has a few feint scars on his iace ; his hair
cut close, excepting a small circular bunch
behind : stutters when he attempts to speak
fast, or is alarmed Had on an old tow linen
shirt, a pair of old black striped'dinsey trow-
sers, patched with blue and white kersey.
He is an artful chap, and will attempt to pass
as a free boy, by getting some free negro to
own him as a child, which he has frequent!)
said would be his plan should he runaway.
Twenty Dollars will be paid for apprehend-
ing him, if taken in this state, ard the above
reward if taken out of the state, if secured
so that 1 get him, and all reasonable charg-
es if brought home to

THS subscriber offers for sale, the fol-
lowing tract of LAND, '.ate the residence
of Charles Elder, deceased •, lying in Anne
Arundle cindy, on the Western Falls of
the Patapsco, twenty-two miles from Balti
more, and about four miles to the right of
the Fivderick-lown Turnpike Road.
It contains between six and seven hun-
dred acres, which will be sold in an entire
body, or divided into Lots, as may best suit
the purchasers. The above land is well tim-
bered, and has a considerable portion of mea-
dow ground, with a large Orchard of excel-
lent fruit trees of every kind.
A further description is thought unneces-
sary, presuming those inclined to purchase
will view the premises For term, apply to
the subscriber^ living near the 20 mile stone,
an the Fr lderick-town turnpike road.

court of the District of Columbia, silting as a
court if chancery for the county of Washington,

in the District of Columbia, and known by the
name of the UNION TAVERN, now in the
occupancy of William Crawford, and late the
property of Charles M'Laughlin, deceased j
together with the Lots, Houses, Stables and
improvements belonging to and on which the
said tavern is erected ; an 1 also the two-story
Brick House, situate on Bridge-street, near
the said Union Tavern, and the Lot on which
the same is erected, late the property of James
S. Morsel!, esquire.

bonds, with approved security, for the payment
of the purchase money, wilhinterestfrom the
day of sale, in three equal annual payments
