The insurrection which broke out in Servia has extended to Bosnia. The French army of observation in the Frionl, is in rnatch to the assistance of the Turk,—asid the advanced corps have alrea- dy arrived at Bosnia. St. Petersburg, March 6.—Since the departure of the imperial guards, our city has been garrisoned by militia. The troops that now arrive her are all Asiatics. Hamburg, April 24. The present posi- tion of the enemy's army, (Russia) is as fol- lows ; Toe grand duke Constantine, arriv- ed, with the Russian guards at the head quarters on the 6th April. On the 1st, gen. The following is an extract of a letter from a gentleman in Batavia, to his friend in in this city, dated Batavia, Feb. 23, 1807. «' I wish y>>u to have it published in the American Gazettes, that (he large church in Batavia, the Dome of which has hitherto been the only mark for avoiding t.vo dan- gerous sh .als lying to to southward of tiie roads, is to be entirely polled down, and not rebuilt. At T.-nningen, Fame, Hill, New-York ; George, Wilkins, Baltimore ; Pactolus, Bedford, Charleston ; Farnum, Burgess, and Pittsburg, Kelly, Philadelphia. At Copenhagen, Ann, Burk, Charleston. Accounts from Part-au-Prince June 4, say, that Petion is continually triumphing over Christophe. Larchaye and Gonatves have been taken, and the victors are mak- ing against 'Cape-Francois, which will no doubt be also taken. Extract of a. letter Jrain Monte-Piedo. " The treasure is immense .; some calcu- late 32 millions sterling. During the siege, they loaded a French frigate, and two gun- brigs, with dollars, which they cowardly set fire to, on the morning the town surren- dered. About 20 deserters from the Bri- tish camp, and three Americans, that had possession of one of the Spanish batteries, and would not surrender, are to behan;'ed, together with the whole of the crew of the Jane Shore, Guineaman, that had mutinied and killed their officers- " The country is in a state of nature, without cultivation, but still produces lux- uriantly. A bullock will cost ab'mt a dol- lar, and a horse about 3 or 4 rials. Wool and hides, tobacco, tea and chocolate, in heaps, lay out in the fields, perhaps -ailed about, in some places, with cowhorns and bones. The city contains about 40,000 in- habitants, who are very swarthy in the face. The women dress loosely, and seem a little curious to gaze after strangers. " There is a great demand for clerks ; and tradesmen can easily make a fortune in a short time. The Aurora is arrived. Neither the Garland nor Mary are-yet arriv- I saw 14 dollars paid for a quire of common writing paper, and 3 id. for a glass to a watch." Another letter, after alluding to the des- perate attack on the town, says, '• The cli- mate seems to agree very well with me ; and though the heat is very oppressive, the air has all the salubrity it is famed for."
