Arrived on Monday, the private vessel of war Mayflower, Geo. Johnson, commander, with the Spanish brigantineMaria, her prize. The Maria was one of a fleet ef 27 Spa- nish merchant vessels proceeding along the coast of Cuba, under convoy of several gunboats,, and having put into the port of Barney, on that coast, she was cut out by the May-Flower, and brought to this port for adjudication. I.) touched here on Tuesday, in 85 days from the coast of Africa, with eighty-six Slaves, bound to Charleston, and sailed the same day. When full grown, their bulk is tre- mendous, much superior in size to a lion, and of prodigious strength. Their color is a bright yellow, Beautifully marked with long stripes of black, which run in the same direction as their ribs, with oihrrs across their thighs.-------The> Tigers in Asia are tiie scourge of the conn vy ; insidious, bloodthirsty and malevolent, pre- ferring the human flesh for their sustenapce to that ef wild beasts.
