Mr. Burwell moved to insert, in the 13th
line,after the aerd " offence," the words

At half past one o'clock, a Message in
writing was received from the President of
the U. S- by Mr. Coles, his secretary.
Mr. Macon moved to strikeout the word

This motion occasioned considerable de-

Mr. Mum ford moved to add, at the end
of the last section, an amendment to the
following effect : " and that the time allow-
ed for paying bonds on goods imported into
the U. S. be extended to 6 months further
