Continues to offer his professional services
to the citizens of Baltimore, and informs them
that he his opened a Shop, in the above
Street, for the Shoeing of Horses feet, accord
ing to the modem improved plan ; that is on
the following principle :
The. Frog of the foot never to bewared, to
bear equal weight with the shoe, and the shoe
to be forged in such a manner as to bear a
level surface on the ground and at the same
time a sufficient space betweeen the shoe and
sole of the Foot.
It would appear, at first thought that the
frog pressing on the ground, w >uld injure the
bora. ; but when wc corsider the shape, situ-
ation, qualiiy and composition of the frog,
together with its connection with the exter-
nal and intern-d parts of the foot, we must ac-
knowledge it was placed therefor most es-
sential purposes. It is elastic, and the shape
bf a wedge. Convex, ana placed in the centra
of the heels
This wedge like shape, and convexity must
bsintend, d for same purpose, and that is to
keep the bee is expanded, which operation
takes place in the following manner; allow
the frog to press on the ground, and when-
ever the horse sets his foot down, the frog as-
cends, t >at is, it rises u; between the heels ;
when he takes it up, the bog descends and
by this alternate motion the heels are preserv-
ed expanded The toot forms half a circle,
which is Cite natural shape of a toll's foot, and
a i.roper elastic mo.ion is kept up in the part..
Composing the heels—again, the frog, when
s-,!; . e l 10 press on the p-uottd, prevents
(lie horse teem slipping and by the. its elastic
quality acts as a spring.
Ii is found by experience that a perpetual
pr.-ss re may I ii given to a living substance,
and it will be attended with no inconvenience,
when a partial* pressure will cause most ex-
quisite pain.
This is demonstrated in a person whose liv-
ing is by the hammer j he feels no inconve
niei'.ee ;' when a person; whose hand is soft,
begins to work with the hammer for a little
time, he feejs great pain The same is
also the case with the frog of the horse's foot,
though it is cut and raised from the ground,
as it is the common practice, and not
admitted to press on an even surface, it
will meet with pressure on gravelly gorund, or
any uneven surface ; therefore it is better it
should have perpetual or constant pressure.
Independent of the reasonable appearance
of the above theory, no one has cause for
fear in llu practice. It has been adopted for
several veal's past at the Veterinary College
of London, and in numerous instances in this
city, by my direction, with the moat salutary
effects.
The plan of Shoeing in fr ,st differs from
the plan in warmer weather
It is expected these few observations are
sufficient, but any further exp atiation will
be given by calling on me
* What I mean by partial pressure, is a press
ure sometimes.

Of Mr. William Julion, carpenter and builder,
No. 69, south Fifth street, Philadelphia.
Sjn,
My wishes to promote the interest of su-
perior merit, and to afford consolation totnc
afflicted, induces me to request you will lay
my case before the pe.blic, as an incontostible
proof of the astonishing efficacy of Dr. 1-to-
bertson's invaluable Stomachic Elixir of
Health.
I do hereby certify, that I was seized most
violently with the dysentery,' or bloody flux,
which reduced me so much, that I was con-
fined to mv bed, and became so weak that I
could not not move without assistance. My
situation at that time being so seriously alarm-
ing, as no relief could be obtained, I w m
given over, and even death would have been
cle.siri.ble to me, had not afriendbf mine, who
by chance called to see me, who had just rs-
coveredfroma similar complaint, though not
t:o severe as mine. He informed me that he
was cured by taking Dr. Robertson's Stomachic
Elixir of Health, and advised me to send to
youfora bottle. I immediately did so, and by
following your instructions given with the
bottle, before I had taken half a bottle, 1 found
myself much relieved, and my disorder great-
ly abated, and by continuing to take it, in one
week I was able to walk out, and in less than
a fortnight was able to attend to my business.
I therefore recommend every family to le
provided with this invaluable medic&e, parti-
cularly those who live at a distance in the
country, where assistance cannot be immedi-
ately obtained. As I am convinced that D.\\
Robertson's Stomachic Eli.sir of Health, is
the most effectual remedy in the world, I
have since recommended itto several of iny
friends in similar complaints, who have always
been relieved immediately after taking it.—
Should any person wish to be. more fully con
vinced of my case, I will with pleasure ex-
plain it to them by applying to me.
1 am with a due sense of the benefit I have
received, through the efficacy of your medi-
cine,
Sir, your humble servant,

that having lanored for upwards of six months
under a very bad cough, attended with diffi-
culty of breathing, pains in my breast and side,
and a sickness at my slomaeb ; having loslail
appetite, I became so very much reduced in
my strength as to be unable to'walk. I was
considered in a consumption, and given up for
alostman. In this hopeless situation I had
recoure to Dr. Robertson's Stomachic Elixir erf
Health, and to my great astonishment, Ufue
I bad taken one bottle, found myself v*ry
much relieved. 1 expectorated a great quan-
tity of phlegm, which has eased nie.of one of
the. most violent coughs that ever a man had ;
I have takeu it rtctularly ever since, and now
find myself completely recovered, and shall
certainly, for the benefit received, recommend
it as far as I can, believing it to be a most effi-

Of Mr. Feier Denman, jVo. 278, south Second-

Dear Sin,
It is with the utmost satisfaction I in-
form you of the cure effected by your truly
invaluable Stomachic Elixir of Health, as the
whole of my family, including myself, being-
six in number, were violently affected with
the influenza, attended with very bad coughs,
pains In the limbs, and difficulty of breathing,
which continued to increase. I applied to a
physician, but bis medicines had no effect—
just at that time, having heard of the cures
made by Dr. Robertson's Stomachic'Eiixir of
Health, I determined to try a bottle of it; I
did, and its effects exceeded my expectations.
The first two or three doses caused me to ex-
pectorate avast quantity of tough vicid phlegm,
and so speedily removed every symptom of
the cold, that by the time we had taken three
bottles we were all perfectly cursd, except a
weakness that remained, for which I have ad-
ministered Dr. Robertson's Patent Wine Bit-
ters, and I have found them wonderfully effica-
cious in-strengthening the system,and destroy-
ing of worms, as two uf my children have
voided avast quantity by taking them, and are
now grow'mg6troug and healthy. I have since
recommended the a ove medicines to a num-
ber of my friends, who have been immediately
relieved by taking them.
'.' is toy desire that you publish this case of
my family for the benefit of the. public, and
those who may be afflicted. Any person desir-

Tli Gout, Rheumatism, Lumbago, and the

exquisite ly painful, and sO difficult to he cured,
that they have justly ; xcitcc.it i e utmost stretch
of medical investigation. Some proi'e:

the sciences ; others in another. Dr\ I Usot
particularly has long been renowned for the
superiority of his prescriptions in chronica!
diseases, and the length of time which elap
sed during his aole attention to tire nature and
effects and cure of these affections, render
the medicines which he recommended of in-
valuable importance. TI.e beneficial effects of
these drops, have been so often experienced,
aivl their extraordinary efficacy has been at-
tested by witnesses Bdnumerous and so tinini
peachably credible, that incredulity itself
caiuot doubt the virtues of Dr. Tissot's Gout

already been vended, and the sale is now be-

the disorders of a chrouico na ure is so c.n
