cOGC t Complaint of S.E.Nicholson. State Superintendent Anti-Saloon League. In the matter of the complaint preferred by S.E.Nicholson, State Supt. Anti-Saloon League, as referred to in the proceedings of September 22nd and 26th., 1902, a communication, as fol~ lows, was received, and held over awaiting the visit of Mr. Nicholson. "Baltimore, Md., September 27,1902. Board of Police Commissioners, Baltimore City. Gentlemen:- I hereby desire to acknowledge the receipt of answers to questions by Captain Pumphrey and Detective Hammersla. Please accept our thanks for your promptness in the matter. I desire to say that to me the answers are not satisfactory, especially on the vital point of how they came to be in the case. Of course they were summoned by the Court, but that does not at all explain their connection with the case, or how the defense at Bel Air knew these gentlemen had knowledge of Mr. V/ein. Let me say also that what they say about Mr. V/ein is of so general a nature that it hardly would warrant them taking the trouble to let it be known out An the counties that Wein was a bad man, when they took no steps to let it be known in the City. However, we have no desire to be precipitate or sensational, and after an important conference which we have on Monday next, I will let you know whether we will have further communication to make to the Board in the matter. Thanking you again for your assistance and counteay in this case, I am Very truly yours, S.E.NICHOLSON, State Supt. Anti-Saloon League. We will not be able to be before the Board not till next Friday, as I will be out of the city on Wednesday.n Boxing Exhibition. Permits. Upon the recommendation of the Deputy Marshal, it was ordered that permits be granted the Eureka Athletic Club and the Eutaw Athletic Club to hold Boxing Exhibitions, at the Germa-nia Maennerchoir Hall October 3rd., and 6th., respectively. Boxing Exhibitions. Report. A report was received from the Deputy Marshal upon the subject of Boxing Exhibition held at Germania Maennerchoir Hall, September 29,1902, under the auspices of the Eutaw Athletic Club in which report it is stated that "at times the audience was quite boisterous owing to delays on part of the management".
