of Mounted Police, approved by the Marshal, it was ordered that the Deputy Marshal's carriage be provided with a new set of rubber tires at a co3t of $45.00 The vote upon the furnishing of rubber tires, as above, was as follows:- President Upshur, Yea, Commissioner Fowler, Yea. Recommendation of Lieut. McClelland, filed as Exhibit 829. Fiano. Southern District Station-house. A report was received from the Marshal, transmitting with his approval, request from Captain George G.Henry, Southern District, that the Board permit Mr. G.Fred Krantz, to loan the men of the Southern District Station-house a piano, to be placed in the Southern District Station. The permission asked for was granted. Slot Machines. Gambling. A communication, as follows, was received from the Marshal, recommendations as contained therein were approved, and the Board ordered that instructions be given to the force in accordance therewith:- "Baltimore, October 22nd, 1902. To The Honorable, The Board of Police Commissioners. Gentlemen:- I beg, respectfully, to report, that on July 19th., 1902, the following order, relative to Slot Machines, was issued by me: •By direction of the Board of Police Commissioners you will instruct all officers, irrespective of division, to report promptly the presence of any slot machines on their posts; that a record of places where slot machines may be found shall be kept at your respective station-houses and the sane to be reported to this office. All officers will be held to the strictest account with respect to the presence of slot machines on their posts and proceedings must be tal;en promptly against any and all persons found violating the law tipon this and other forms of gambling.'
