It was ordered that the said recommendation be returned to the Marshal for a statement, more specifically, of his reasons therefor. Practice of Dentistry. Communication was received from E.P.Keath, Jr., requesting the Board to investigate to ascertain if one W.E.Pierce is engaged in the practice of dentistry at 1065 Myrtle avenue, un lawfully. It was ordered that the said communication be referred to the Marshal for his attention. Complaint of S.E.Nicholson. State Superintendent Anti-Saloon League. In the matter of complaint preferred by the Anti-Saloon League with reference to the action of Captain Pumphrey and Detective Hammersla in testifying for the defense in a case of violation of liquor law at Belair, as referred to in the proceedings of September 22, 26, October 1,3,6 and 13,1902, a communication, as follows, was received from the Rev. S.Edgar Nicholson, which was read and ordered filed, see Exhibit No. 837. "Baltimore, Md. , October 24,1902. Hon. Board of Police Commissioners, Baltimore, Md. My Dear Sirs:- I herewith acknowledge the receipt from you of the last answers of Captain of Detectives Pumphrey and Detective Hammersla to the questions last submitted to them. Our Executive Committee has considered the same, and referred the further consideration to our law enforcement committee. I may say the answers are not satisfactory, but as soon as the law enforcement committee can be called together, we will determine what is to be done further in the cases. Permit me to thank the Board on behalf of the League for the courtesies you have shown us in the whole matter. Very cordially yours, S.E.NICHOLSON, Supt." |
