OGC 63 The Board approved of the recommendations of the Deputy Marshal, as above, and directed that books be prepared and instructions issued accordingly. Report above referred to filed, as Exhibit No. 840. Appointment of Policemen. To fill the vacancies in the grade of policeman caused by the dismissal of Officer John L.Hundertmark and retirement of Officer Emerson King, the Board, by the vote as shown hereunder, appointed the following eligibles, policemen, viz;- Conrad E.Joeckel, Jr., William J. Poplar, said appointments to take effect October 29,1902. The vote upon the appointment of Eligibles Joeckel and Poplar, policemen, as above, was as follows:- President Upshur, Yea, Commissioner Morris, Yea, Commissioner Fowler, Yea. Appointment of Probation Officers. To fill the vacancies in the grade of Probation Officer, caused by the promotions of Probation Officer Joeckel and Pop.lar, as above, the Board, by the vote as given below, appointed eligibles John M.Stadter and Benjamin A.Sutton, Probation Officers; said appointments to take effect October 29th. 1902. The vote upon the appointment of Eligibles Stadter and Sutton, probation Officers, was as follows:- President Upshur, Yea, Commissioner Morris, Yea, Commissioner Fowler, Yea. John J. Berney.- Pension. It was ordered by the vote as shown below that former Officer John J.Berney be paid a pension of $9.00 per week, out of the fund known and accounted for as the "Special Fund", under and by authority of Chapter 188, Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
