| to the Commissioner of Street Cleaning, on the grounds that our contract does not require us to remove street dirt. He agreed with us upon that point, and suggested that we communicate with the comptroller, who has charge of the city markets. After having interview with him he issued an order requiring all occupants of the various market stalls to deposit their waste material in receptacles, which we will afterwards collect. The Commissioner of Health and Street Cleaning, and this Company, are anxious that this order may be carried out as far as practicable, it being considered sanitary and cleanly from their stand-point, and a saving of expense to us. We respectfully ask your aid in this direction. Throwing of Flour, etc. It was ordered that the Marshal be directed to instruct the Police Force to stop the ringing of cow bells, the throwing of to-night flour and other forms of improper conduct on the streets hallow- een. Statement as to Policeman Electioneering. Commissioner Morris called the attention of the Board to publication in the newspaper of Tuesday October 28, of statement alleged to have been made by Mr. John A. Jenetzke in a speech delivered by him at Philantrophy Hall on Monday night, October 27th, that he, Mr. Jenetzke, knew of a certain policeman who had been electioneering among the Hebrews, and that he, Mr. Jenetzke, would furnish 'he name of said officer if called upon to do so by the Board of Police Commissioners. In this connection Commissioner Morris informed the Board that the Marshal had reported to him that he, the Marshal, had instructed Captain McGee to call upon Mr. Jenetzke to ascertain the name of the policeman to whom he referred; that Captain McGee had been unable to obtain the name of the policeman in question from Mr. Jenetzke, and that he, Commissioner Morris, had |
