| cOGC 103 The Board held the case over for further investigation. In this connection it was ordered that the Police Physicians examine Officer Fischer to ascertain and report whether his physical condition gives evidence of the continued and excessive use of intoxicating liquor. It was also ordered that the Marshal be instructed to cause an investigation to be made,quietly, among the sergeants and men of the Department to ascertain if Officer Fischer is a drinking man. It was ordered further in this connection that the Marshal ascertain and report who Mrs. Mamie Amos, with whom Officer Fischer is said to be living, is;to obtain all possible information respecting their relations. Officer George S.Escaville, Northwestern District, was tried upon the following charge and fined $1.00- CHARGE:- "Unofficerlike conduct by lounging in the lobby of the Academy of Music, with his coat unbuttoned, on the night of November 10,1902, while on active duty." Officer Escaville stated to the Board in explanation of his conduct in the Academy of Music on November 10,1902, that he suffers from an ulcerated foot and is otherwise physically unable to perform the duties of a policeman properly. The Board thereupon ordered that the Police Physicians be directed to examine the said Officer George S.Escaville with a view of determining whether or not he is incapacitated permanently for active police duty. Assignment of Magistrate. The Secretary reported to the Board that the Department had been notified Tuesday November 11th., by Justice James W.Lewis, Northeastern District, that he desired to be absent from his duties from 3 P.M., November 11th., to 8 A.M., November 15,1902, on account of sickness, and that he, the Secretary, had assigned Justice Jacob Rab to sit as Police Justice at the Northeastern District until relieved, in the place of Justice Lewis, Additional |
