0GC 111 Donations. Upon the recommendation of the officer in charge of the Detective Department, approved by the marshal, it was ordered that Detective T.B.Hall be pernitted to retain five dollars donated to him by V.V.Kleinefelter, 1113 Lanvale street, for services at the wedding of his daughter. Upon the recommendation of Captain John J.Fullem, approved by the Marshal, it was ordered that Officer John J.Moffitt of the Western District, be permitted to retain thirty dollars donated to him by the United States Government, for the arrest of a deserter from the United States Army. Assignment of Magistrate. The Secretary reported that after the adjournment of the Board on November 12th., the Department was notified by Justice William J.Robertson, Southern District, that he desired to be absent from his duties from 8 A.M., November 13th., to 5 P.M. November 13th., on account of sickness; that he, the Secretary, assigned Justice Thomas F.Campbell to act as Police Justice for the Southern District in the absence of Justice Robertson, as aforesaid. Additional Justice Neilson Foe sitting at the Southwestern District. The action of the Secretary in the assignment of Magistrate as above, was approved. Snow and Ice on Sidewalks. A communication was received from his Honor, the Mayor, enclosing copy of letter addressed to him by the City Engineer asking that the police be instructed to enforce,strictly, the law requiring removal of snow and ice from sidewalks. It was ordered that the said communication be referred to the Marshal for his attention.
