| Horse- Purchase of. Upon the recommendation of the Lieutenant of Mounted Police it was ordered, by the vote as given below, that horses be purchased as follows:- One to take the place of horse which recently died |150. Another to replace horse worn out in service and sold $150. The vote upon the purchase of horses, as above, was as follows :- President Upshur, Yea, Commissioner Morris, Yea, Commissioner Fowler, Yea. See recommendation filed, as Exhibit No. 904. Permission Requested for Officer Veitch to make Statement in Case of State v3. Rosenstock. Mr. Edward S.Kines, Counsel for Christopher Rosenstock called upon the Board, and requested that Officer Clarence Vitch, Northern District, be given permission to make to his Honor, the Mayor, a statement of the facts in relation to one Christopher Rosenstock, convicted of the charge of violating the liquor law. Mr. Kines stated to the Board that His Excellency, the Governor, had remitted the State's part of fine imposed on the said Rosenstock, and the statement requested by him to be made by Officer Veitch was for the purpose of securing a remission of that part of the fine returned to the city by the Court. The Mayor, he said, desired a statement of Officer Veitch as to the facts in the case for his guidance in the premises. The permission requested by Mr. Kines was granted. Baltimore World. Request to Inspect Reports from Detective Department. Mr. Dannenburg, representing the Baltimore World, came before the Board, and requested permission to inspect the reports made by the Captain of Detectives to the Board daily as to the work of his office. Mr. Dannenberg stated that there had been a rumor at the office of the Baltimore World that certain of the Detectives had received a majority of the best or most important assignments |
