| cOGC 185 to the disadvantage of other members of the Detective Force, and he desired to examine the reports referred to, to ascertain if they disclosed that favortism had been practiced by the Captain of Detectives in favor of some members and against others of his Department. It was explained to Mr. Dannenberg that the information he desired could not be obtained from the reports in question, because they do not include the complaints which came to the Marshal's Office from the respective districts, and referred by the Marshal to the Detective Office. Mr. Dannanberg was told, however, that he might, if he so desired, inspect the record books of the Department relating to the work of the detective office, as well as the book in which donations to Detectives, etc., are recorded. The Board told Mr. Dannenberg, however, that if he or his paper had any specific information as to any discrimination on the part of the Captain of Detectives against any of his men the Board would be glad if that information were, given to it in order that the Board itself might make an investigation into the matter. Mr. Dannenberg assured the Board that neither he nor his paper had any information beyond a rumor. Injury to Horse - Mounted Service. A report was received from the Lieutenant of Mounted Police, through the hands of the Marshal, recommending that Officer Winchester Mason be transferred from the Mounted Service to street duty, and stating that Officer Mason brought his horse into the Mounted Stable at 6.10 P.M., Saturday December 13,1902, with a bad wound in his shoulder, and that the said officer could not give any account of where or how it happened. It was ordered that the report of Lieutenant of Mounted Police, as above,be returned to the Marshal with direction to investigate fully the matter of injury to the horse ridden by Officer Mason with a view of ascertaining how the wound referred to was inflicted, when and by whom. |
