eOGC "December 22,1902. 197 To The Honorable, The Board of Police Commissioners. Gentlemen:- At the present time there are only two day squad Sergeants afoot in the Northern District from Charles street to the Western City limits, and in the event of either one of these Sergeants being on the sick list, or on leave of absence, this entire territory has to be looked after by one Sergeant. In order that this territory may be more thoroughly protected, I would respectfully, recommend an additional squad as indicated in the attached plat. Very respectfully, THOMAS F. PARNAN, Marshal." The recommendation of the Marshal, as above, was approved, the formation of the extra squad to take effect January 1,1903. See Exhibit No. 908. Appointment of Additional Sergeant. To provide an additional sergeant made necessary by the formation of a nev; squad in the Northern District, in accordance with the recommendation of the Marshal, as given above, the Board, by the vote as shown hereunder, appointed Eligible William S.Herrick, a sergeant; said appointment to take effect January 1,1903. The vote upon the appointment of William S.Herrick a sergeant, as above, was:- President Upshur,......Yea, Commissioner Morris....Yea, Commissioner Fowler....Yea. Assignment of Sergeant. It was ordered that William S.Herrick, appointed sergeant as above, be assigned to the Mounted Service. Transfer. It was ordered that Sergeant John H.Gooding be transferred to day duty, and assigned to work the extra squad to be formed in the Northern District.
