_ CHARGE;- "Violating Rule 29, Section 2, by absenting himself from duty on the night of December 31, 1903, without permission." Officer Arthur M.Colton. Central District, was tried upon the following charge, found guilty thereof and fined $10. CHARGE:- "Conduct unbecoming an officer by entering premises 510 Colvin street, 8.30 F. M., December 23,1902, while religious service was being conducted therein, and acting in an unofficer-like manner." __Assignment of Magistrates. The Secretary reported to the Board that in the afternoon of December 31,1902, Justice James A. Fechtig, Jr., Central District, notified the Department that he desired to be absent from his duties on January 1,, 1903, that he, the Secretary assigned Additional Justice Heilson Foe, Jr., to sit at the Central District Station-house January 1,1903, in the absence of Justice Fechtig. The action of the Secretary in the assignment of Justice Poe, as above, was approved. The Secretary also reported to the Board that Justice William J. Garland, Eastern District, had notified the Department in the early morning of January 1,1903 that he would be unable to perform his duties on that date because of sickness; that he, the Secretary, authorized Justice Jacob Rab to act as Police Justice for the Eastern District from 8 A.M., January 1,1903, until relieved, in the place of Justice Garland. The action of the Secretary in the assignment of Justice Rab, as above, was approved. The Secretary also reported that in the afternoon of January 1,1903, he had been notified by Additional Justice Neilson Poe, Jr., that he desired to be absent from his duties from 3 to 5 P. M., January 1, 1903, and that he, the Secretary, authorized Justice William Reed to act as Police Justice for the Central District from 3 to 5 P.M., January 1,1903.
