| OGC 30' the Central District Station-house from 3 P.M., to-day, until relieved, in the place of Justice James A. Fechtig,Jr., who notified the Department that he desired to be absent from his duties from 3 P.M., to-day until 5 P.M., tomorrow, February 17,1903. Appointment of Probation Officers. To fill the vacancies in the grade of Probation Officer, caused by the promotion from the Probatoin»ry List of James A. Hearns, Charles A. Leach and George W. Collins, the Board, by the vote as shown hereunder, appointed the following named eli-gibles Probation Officers, viz:- Richard T. Roper. William D. Curran,• David F. O'Keefe. Said appointments to take effect February 18,1903 The vote upon the appointments, as above, was:- President Upshur........Yea, Commissioner Morris,....Yea, Commissioner Fowler,....Yea. Gambling - Tom Smith's New & Jasper Sts. Communication was received complaining of gambling at a place said to be kept by one Tom Smith, at the corner of New & Jasper Sts. ' It was ordered that the said communication be referred to the Marshal for his attention.
