| trie Company of Baltimore City, in settlement of claim made against said company in accordance with instructions of January 12,1903,for horse killed by car of said company January 8,1903, and also for damage to patrol wagon of the Southwestern District on the date mentioned. It was ordered that the said S180.00, above referred to, be used for the purchase of a new horse when need for same arises. Opium & Gambling Joint Frederick St.f between Fayette £ Gayf Etc., Communication from Grand Jury. In the matter of communication received from the Grand Jury upon the subject of opium and gambling joints on Frederick and Liar-ion streets, as referred to in the proceedings of March 4,9 and 16, 1903, a report was received from the Marshal of the result of investigations made with respect to said alleged opium and ga-bling places. Said report was read and ordered filed, see Exhibit No. 987. It was ordered in this connection that a copy of said report be transmitted to the Grand Jury for its information. Leaves of Absence During Conventions to be held in Baltimore as follows, during 1905. It was ordered that no leaves of absence be granted mem-bars of uniform and detective forces during the continuance of conventions to be held in Baltimore City as follows, nor for three days preceding and three days following periods of said conventions, viz:- The 20th. Triennial Saengerfest of the Northeastern Saen-gerbund, beginning June 14th., and ending June 21, 1903. Annual session of the Supreme Grand Lodge Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, commencing July 21st., and ending July 23,1903. 79th., annual session of the Sovereign Grand Lodge Independent Order of Odd Fellows, beginning September 21 and ending September 26,1903.
