Officer John H. Derr, Southwestern District,-complaint against. In the natter of complaint against Officer John H. Derr,Southwestern District,preferred by Mrs. Florence A.Berry, of having assaulted her son,March 15th,1903,as referred to in the proceedings of Karch 16th,1903, it was ordered that formal charges be lodged against the said Officer Derr of official misconduct, in accordance with the recommendation of the :'arshal in his report , which report,being as follows,is filed as Exhibit No.995;— Baltimore,March 24th,1903. To The Honorable, The Board of Police Commissioners, Gentlemen:- In connection with your letter of 16th instant, enclosing list of witnesses to the alleged assault by Officer John H.Derr upon Joseph Berry,16 years old,on March 15th,1903, I had the several witnesses interviewed,and beg,respectfully, to attach,herewith,their statements. After careful perusal of these statements I am of the opinion that Officer Derr should be brought before your Honorable Body upon charges,and I would therefore recommend the same. The order of March 23rd,1903, respecting transfers was rescinded in so far as that order refers to Officers Thomas Norton, Patrick Sullivan and A.F.Storey, and direction given that these officers be retained in A.
