The messenger, was captured at Camden Station with the sword and letter and Mrs. Hutchins was arrested and placed in jail. The matter was referred to a military commission with the following result, as shown by the American in a news item, iz: "Sentenced.—The follow-

as in days gpne by, and whilst we sympathize deeply with those who consider themselves aggrieved by this action of the company, we must confess that if the company by their charter are permitted to raise the toll, we can see no reason why (in the present time of ruinous prices to everybody but farmers) this company should not advance their rates."
There is very little war news this week except that the Confederate cavalry are giving Generals Custer and Merritt a lot of trouble in the valley of Virginia.
In the issue of November 25th, the only war news was reference to Sherman's campaign in Georgia and Gilmore's raids in Maryland.
Some ladies of Baltimore, Southern sympathizers with the Confederacy, and admirers of Major Harry Gilmor, decided to send him a token of their esteem and best wishes, and they decided to send him a very superb sabre and scabbard. Mrs. Sarah Hutchins, wife of Thomas T. Hutchins, a lawyer of Baltimore city, started the gift by special messenger with the following letter:
