Dundalk firemen fought their way through the blinding snow storm over seven miles of snow-blocked roads and crossed the Patapsco River to battle a stubborn blaze on the $100,000 yacht De Grasse, anchored at the head of Bear Creek. For three hours the firemen worked before the flames were under control.
The De Grasse was anchored in the creek off the marine yards of the Unger & Mahon Co., where she had been sent for an overhauling preparatory to a spring cruise. The boat is owned by Edward T. Boswell, of Norwood Heights, near Catonsville.
No one was on board when the blaze was discovered. William Fith-lan, engineer, shortly before had gone ashore to the plant of the repair company. Workmen of the plant discovered smoke curling from a hatchway and telephoned the fire department.
The Dundalk fire company, seven miles away, commanded by Lieut. John Zulauf, responded. So did city fire company No. 49, commanded by ^apt. C. C. Jones, stationed at Curtis Bay, and whose apparatus is a converted sub-chaser. The one was hampered by almost impassable roads and the other by the high winds and swirling snow which made navigation difficult and dangerous.
On their arrival the Dundalk company carried their chemical extinguisher to the burning craf* i~ *notor boats. Drawing up alongside the yacht, the converted sub-chaser soon had three powerful streams playing on the blaze. It was found to have
originated in the partition between the engine room and the sleeping quarters in the bow. A short circuiting of electric wires is believed responsible.
After a three-hour fight the fire was extinguished. Firemen then began pumping out the water they had been pumping in as the boat appeared to be on the verge of sinking.

YEA!
'TWAS REAL APRIL FOOL'S DAY.
April fooled them all!
Followers of the sport of kings, golfers and sandlot ball players were all set for balmy weather.
And then it snowed, rained, hailed and sleeted.
Sweeping up from the Gulf Coast, a snowstorm, termed by the weather experts as a "seasonable disturbance" viseted the entire Atlantic Coast with precipitations of snow and rain, covering Baltimore county with about nine inches of the fluffy white stuff.

Buy Ifour Radio Set on Comparative Test
De Forest D-io Reflex Radiophone—a 4-tube long distance receiver using indoor loop, with a reputation for the clearest reception of broadcast in existence. Operates either on self-contained dry batteries, making it a portable set, or on the usual combination of storage and dry batteries. Sold on a direct comparison basis with any other set made, regardless of price. Price of set with loop $150.00.
DON'T buy a radio set because it costs more than any other radio set made. Put a De Forest Reflex Radiophone in the same room with any other radio set no matter how much it costs, no matter how many tubes it uses, and see which one works best for you. Test the sets, side by side on the number of stations they will bring in, on the clearness with which they receive distant stations, on their selectivity, on the beauty of sound, on the absence of extraneous noise, on the ease of operation. After you have found how much more the
De Forest will do for you than any other set made, you will be glad to learn that it costs only $150, that it needs no outdoor antenna— no ground—that it operates on either self-contained dry batteries or on the usual combination of storage and dry batteries, that you can carry it from room to room or work it in your car, that it is the easiest long distance set made to operate. And that its upkeep cost in tubes and batteries is notably low.
The plain fact is, when you have a De Forest Reflex you have all there is! Prove it to yourself!

MOSES
F OLD TOWN
"The Good Maker of Kahn's Good Klothes." COR. GAY and EAST STREETS
"Your Good Money's Worth Or Your Good Money Back"
There Are No "Hicks" In "Old Town"
FOXES DON'T THINK MUCH OF SOUR GRAPES
WHEN a fox can't reach the grapes he calls them. sour.
When a "Furrier" comes to Baltimore expecting something for nothing and don't get it he calls it a "hick" town."
As the godfather and sponsor of "Old Town" and defender of the good name of the city in general, "Mose" resents the imputation.
Where is there a fairer city with its Mt. A^ernon Place and Preston Gardeens, its well-paved streets and boulevards and its parks than Baltimore?
Where is there another Lexington Market we should like to know. And how about our public buildings and our schools and churches and art galleries.
And then our Mencken, and Ceddes, and our prohibitionistss and bot-leeggers and our bob-tailed cars.
Call this a "hick town? Bosh!
If these "Furriers" would cross the Falls and meet our people and see the life and activity of "Old Town" they wouldn't call us "hicks."
If The "Furriers" Who Call Baltimore A A "Hick" Town Will Please Shep Over Into The Tenth Ward Of "Old Town" And Say That "Mose" Promises Them That They Will Get Out Of The City Quicker Than Joe Quince And His Battling Eskimo Ever Did.
MOSES KAHN OF OLD TOWN"
"OLD TOWN" DOESN'T
THINK MUCH OF
FOXES.
^T^/fOSE" knows pretty near-
¦L * ly everybody in "Old Town" because pretty nearly everybody deals with him and he knows that there are no "hicks" among them and he isn't going to let anybody say so and get away with it.
The working people of "Old Town"—and they all work— know that "Mose" is loyal to them and that's a good reason why they all deal with him. They know that "Mose" treats them right—gives them better clothing for their money than they can get elsewhere.
It's a big thing to have confidence in one another. "Mose" has been doing this in "Old Town" for about 30 years and he doesn't remember half a dozen people that went back on him.
So "Mose" says, come right along "boys" and get your, Easter Suit, while this sale of fine goods lasts at these low prices.
