A rumor heard sometime since is now confirmed by the official announcement that the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows will positively exhibit at Baltimore May 15 and 16. That this biggest of all amusement institutions is to come within easy distance is of unusual interest to local people because of the many changes that have taken place in this mammoth circus since it last visited this locality. The Ringlingg Bros, and Barnum & Bailey super-array of men and women stars has now reached a total of eight hundred of the world's premier riders, aerialists, gymnasts and athletic champions. There are a hundred of the funniest clowns on earth The total personnel of this amazing circus exceeds sixteen hundred persons. More than fifty trainers and keepers are alone required for the splendid troupes of jungle animals that are exhibited in four steel arenas as part of the gigantic program. The pachyderm line-up numbers forty-three elephants; for the main-tent stages as well as the three rings are now occupied by elephant troupes. Mahogany finisned, glass covered, decorated center circus history that five herds oi elephants have been presented in s single display. The trained horst numbers have been augmented by the importation of new companies of supposedly untractable Russian stallions. Thus the various displays— sixteen in all—are equally distributed throughout the entire length of the mammoth main-tent. Some idea of the increased size of this great circus may be had from the estimate made by a New York statistician when it was playing at Madison Square Garden. After taking a census of the Big Show's people, horses, trained animals and the thousand animals contained in its menagerie, he announced that were it possible to place them shoulder to shoulder they would form a line more than two miles long. A hundred railroad cars, all double length, are used to transport this enormous institution, its properties, paraphernalia and huge equipments. The latter include many innovations for the comfort of patrons. Among these are forty Jumbo-electric fans operated by specially designed dynamo sets that audienees may enjoy cool and freshly filtered air throughout the hours of performance. STRUCK BY TRAIN SOCIETY WIDOW TO WED CATONSVTLIiE MAN. Announcement of the engagement of Mrs. James Radcliffe Murray, attractive society matron of Baltimore, came as the latest romance in the life of one of the most popular young widows in Baltimore. Mrs. Murray's first marriage, seven years ago, ended in tragedy only a few months after tbe ceremony, when her husband was killed in an automobile accident ou Charles street. The shock of his death caused ier to retire from society for several years. Her mother, Mrs. Charles G. Mac-Gill, has announced her engagement to Richard Bayly Chapman, son of William J. Chapman, of Catonsville. The date of the wedding has not been set. SHAM BATTLE WILL FEATURE MILITARY CARNIVAL MAY 24 AT TIMONIUM FAIR GROUNDS. Ohesaco Park Lad Meets Death Near Spot Where Father Was Killed. A few hundred feet from the place where his father was killed by a train, Leroy Seifert, 8 years old, of Chesaco Park, Back River, was run down and killed by an express train. Mrs. Charles Seifert, the boy's mother, gave him a nickle on her return home. The boy asked permission to go to a confectionery across the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks to spend it. The boy saw a southbound express approaching. He stopped and allowed it to pass. Then, thinking the northbound track was clear, he started across. A northbound ex-* press came by and the engineer was unable to stop in time to save the child. The train was stopped and the boy was picked up and put on a train (joining to Baltimore. He w&& brought to a hospital there and was pronounced dead. The accident is the third fatal one in the Seifert family in four years. About four years ago the boy's father, Charles Seifert, was coming home from work and crossed the railroad tracks. He was struck and instantly killed by a train. Six month's later the boy's sister, Margaret Seifert, 4 years old, fell from a bridge near her home into Back River and was drowned. Coroner Jacob Dallman, of Essex, is investigating the boy's death. Funeral services were held from his home. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery. The boy is survived by his mother, two brothers, Edward and Carl Seifert, and a sister, Ruby Seifert. Battalions of cavalry, sham battle and gas attacks, a mounted tug-of-war, a steeplechase and other spectacular events will be included in the Maryland Military Carnival and Horse Show to be held May 24 at the Timonium Fair Grounds. The affair, which will be for the benefit of the Children's Aid Society of Baltimore County, will take the place of the annual gymkhana formerly conducted to raise funds for the charity. Morning, afternoon and evening programs have been arranged, featuring athletic events, in which cups will be awarded. The morning program will include pony jumping for children, races and gymkhana events. T. E. Hambleton is chairman of the executive committee. He will be assisted by Mrs. Donald Symington, chairman of county organization; Mrs. Gustavus Ober, Jr., chairman of luncheons; Mrs. John G.
