Shock absorbers for the feet will be greatly appreciated during cross-country trips by the passenger in the front seat. An inner tube may be folded and held in place by adhesive tape. The tube takes up the shock if the body is braced against the seat back. The picnic lunch box may be turned into a refrigerator by the use of one or two covered cans filled with ice and packed among the food. This keeps the cream sweet and makes the vegetables crisp and fresh. For the chest, hold three or four bottles together tightly, bind with adhesive tape, and tuck into your bag. MARYLAND THEATRE. Baltimore has had its touches of Spring during the past few weeks. True, these touches haven't been much to brag about, but Spring is Spring nevertheless. With the arrival of "In and Out' at Ford's Theatre next Monday night, however, we will begin to feel that summer has officially arrived. For this farce noveltp by Thomas F. Fallon, author of "The Last Warning," and Charles C. Stewart, the noted scenarist, is regarded in the light of a summer attraction. It was created to make audiences laugh during the summer months when laughs are most needed and tears are not wanted at all. The cast of "In and Out" is truly exceptional, including as it does such well known people as Cecil Cunningham, the Keith vaudeville The Paul Company 510 Penna. Ave. BALTIMORE, MD Manufacturing- Stationers, Lithographers, Printers Bank Supplies A Specialty- It is the intention of the management to let the audience select the show for this week, and they will try as far as practical to conform to the wishes of the public. "Who are these two fellows— Van and Schenk?" most theatre-'goers ask. The duo, together with its grand piano, was the outstanding hit of this year's "Follies," and for several years previous were vaudeville hill-toppers—there's no doubt about that. Knowing that little or nothing has been written about these remarkable fellows, who now are drawing one of the largest salaries in the theatrical profession, the following will be of interest: John Thomas Schenck and August Van Glove are Brooklyn boys, born of Holland Dutch parentage, and a few years ago were working on the front and rear end of a Brooklyn trolley car. Gus was the motorman and Joe the conductor. By the advice of brother motor-men and conductors who heard them harmonizing around the car barns, they sought a professional engagement. Their advice was bad, for) the act was a "flop." But the boys could not get their jobs back, so they split up. Gus joined up with a trio, of which Harry Tierney, who wrote the celebrated musical comedy "Irene," was a member. Joe joined a burlesque troupe. After they had the rough edges polished off they again joined hands. Their first appearance was at Keith's in the No. 3 position on the bill, so you sec they were not so well thought of at that time, which was twelve years ago. But persistence won, and after two or three more visits they came back as headliners in the same theatres. Naturally their salaries increased in proportion. They have written a musical comedy all by themselves called "Sun-bonnets and Derbies," which Al Er-langer agreed to produce after taking one look at it. They will be starred in the piece next year. Joe, the piano player of the team, is an accomplished musician and plays every instrument in the band, so to speak. Gus is a trombone player of more than ordinary ability. ----------o---------- AUDITORIUM. standable and most if them] There is genuine comedy a\ of it.
