Captain Riley, of the ship Two Maries,
arrived yesterday in 38 days from Newry,
informs us, that London papers to the 25th
of April, (which he took with' hip)., but
1 • jhich, he gave to the commander of an Eng-
Idition-
al accounts of (he movements of the grand
arraisi down to the 3d. Tne French imperi-
al liead" quarters were still at Osferocle. Mar-
shal Massena had moved forward ten Ger-
man miles with the right Wingol the grand
army. No general battle had taken place
since' that of Eylau. Both armies continu
ed to receive pov/ci ful reinforcements; and
the emperor Alexander was , n his way to
take the command of his immense army,
W:;icii, it was said, amounted to three, hun-
dred thousand men.—(Our former advices
from London were only to the 21st of
April.)
Capt. J. Eidridge, of the ship Swift, ar-
rived yesterday, in 120 days from Canton,
states that while at Manilla, the companies
of two ship's, which had been wrecked, put
into that piace in their boats under English
colors. They were treated with the great-
est humanity, permitted co walk in any
.part ot tha city, aad supplied sufficiently
•with food and clothing. Passages were
procured for them to any part of the Ray of
Bengal. Some of them were sent to Can-
ton. The Doctor of one of the ship's
crew, took passage in an American brig to
Mccha. On his arrival, he entered on
board of the Phxton frigate, captain
Wood, and gave information that a Spanish
galloon was to sail in 4 or 5 days from Ma-
nilla for Acapulcha. The Phaston Sailed
immmediately, took theigalloon and brought
her into Mocha, where she was ransomed
ior four hundred thoutnnd pounds sterling'.
Tlie Doctor received 5001. sterling for giv-
ing the information.
The Paris papers received at the office of
the Mercantile Advertiser, by the Calypso,
from Bordeaux, are to the 14th of April,
inclusive. They contain no later news trom
the armies than ^e have heretofore received ;
but they furnish intelligence from Turkey
which sets aside the report of the English
having taken the. DardaiwNe's ? and as this
is the only article oi consequence, we have
confined our translations to whatever re-
lates to it.
VlEKNA, April 2.
The Ciurt Gazette of yesterday contain-
ed the followii r nrticle relative to Tuikey :
" Admiral Duckworth having passed 9
days before Constantinople, and the negoci-
ations between his Britannic majesty's am-
bassador Arbuthuot and the Porte having
been broken oiT, the English fleet put to
sea suddenly on the m irning of the 1st of
March, and directed its course by a north-
erly breeze towards (he tipper Dardanelles,
as if wishing to gain the Black Sea, but
suddenly shifting, made sail for the Marmo-
ra. The Turkish fleet, which is returned
from the Bosphoras, joined the newly-e-
quipped vessels which were in the arsenal
of Tophana, and is gone in pursuit of the
¦ii squadron, to the number of from
15 to 20, under the orders of the Captain
pacha. The crews are almost entirely com-
posed of Janizaries."
This is all the Aulic Gazette has pub-
lished to this day ; but private letters give
later intelligence. One oi' these, which 1ms
been received at a banking-house, is ex-
pressed in the following terms :
" The English fleet, intimidated by the
formidable preparations of the Portg, which
had been directed by gen. Sebastiani, am
bassador of France, warmly seconded by the
French officers, and by several Spanish offi-
cers, quitted on the 1st of March its station
before Constantinople, for the purpose of re- .
turning to the Archipelago. It repassed
the Lower Dardanelles on the 3d March,
and appears to be on a new cruise on the
coast of Tenedos.
" Admiral Duckworth doubtless thought
that his position would become very critical
on the sea of Marmora, should he give time
to the Turks to cut off all direct communi-
cation with England and the rest of the fleet
in the Mediterranean ; and, in truth, the
forts of the Dardanelles could have been
put at any moment in the best state ot de-
fence ; aad the total want of troops to
nu.ke a debarkation would not have permit-
ted him to make even the smallest attack
on any one of these forts to facilitate his
passage.
" Two French officers of rank have de-
parted for the Dardanelles to fortify the
coast of Asia, whilst others are employed in
fortifying tnat of Europe. The Grand Sig-
nior has requested gen. Sebastiani to fortify
equally the Bospluwus on. the side of Pont
Eiixine, the dispositi ,ns for which are al-
ready completed."
FlNKENsTElN, (Prussia,) 3d April.
We have received official intelligence
from Constantinople. Every thing hap-
pens for the best. ( The English have com-
pletely misCErried, and have been, obliged to
repass the strait of the Dardanelles. The
Porte exhibits as energy which has con-
founded the English and the Russians.

The important events which have passed
within the view of tins capital of the empire
of the crescent, are of a nature to fix the at-
tention of all Ear (J^ ; their favorable issue,
the retreat of the English fleet under admi-
ral Duckworth, which [has repassed precipi-
tately the strait of the Dardanelles, ought
to have, in the preseni situation of affairs,
the greatest influence on the military opera-
tions which will render the year which has
just commenced the 1 a; t celebratdd perhaps
of all that ancient or modern history has
made us acqHaiutsd with.

The captain informs that the Swedes had

and part ot the centre were cut up, and that
after the action, the enemy had drove the
French from some other posts. We rather
think this may have been the sortie mention-
ed in the 67th and 68th Bulletins.

From our Richmond Correspondent.
TRIAL OF COL. BURR,
" Tuesday, June 9.
" The grand jury met between two and
three.
" Aftet the" names were called over, Mr.
Hay rose and addressed the court. He
mentioned that he bad received no informa-
tion from gen. Wilkinson, exceptinga small
paragraph in the Norfolk Ledger, stating
the arrival of a vessel at Norfolk in 24 days
from New-Orleans, with the intelligence
that gen. Wilkinson was in that city at the
departure of the vessel. He therefore heped
that the court would please to adjourn the
grand jury a kw days longer.
" Mr. Luther Martin read a paragraph
from a Norfolk paper a day later in its date,
which stated the arrival of a vessel at Nor-
folk in 27 days from New-Orleans, and that
gen. \\ llkinson was in that city on the
nth ult.
" Col. Burr informed the court he was
perfectly willing lhat the grand jury should
be adjourned, but not longer than two days.
The grand jury were accordingly adjourn-
ed until Thursday morning, at 11 o'clock."
