ther is kept tfpen for the acceptance of sir
Evan Napean. Mr. Barrow returns to the
office of 2d secretary, vice Mr. Tucker. The

CHARLESTON, May i4.
It always gives us pleasure to put on re-
cord the numerous instances of humanity
which are produced in traversing the peril-
ous ocean. Benevolence and generosity have
become characteristic points in a Seaman.
In him, more than in any other class of
men—they are ornamental to human nature ;
because his pursuits more frequently- call for
their exercise, and because in most instances,
they are purely disinterested—There cannot
be a more bitter reproach cast upon a Sailor,
than that of war/, of s> isibility for the suf-
ferings of a. brother Tar; and it must be
matter of pride to the profession to know,
that but few merit such opprobrium.

IS it possible tfrat health-officers can pas*

bominable Nuisance on the west .-e'.e of said

ii is the opinion of the people who live in that

ol C,.-se gentlemen to pass along without no-
ticing it ; for it requires no spectacles, 'iot-
even natural eyes, if the nose be sound, to dis-
cover the Nuisance alluded to*-Ahd it is fur-
ther Believed, that if t,h,ure were such a Nui-
sance adjacent to {life dwellings of the health-
officers, it would soon be removed ; ior it i»
reasonable to suppose, that they have more
feeling for themselves ami lluiillii-.s than what
they have for their fellow-citizens, as they
have in vain been applied to for redress. It is
trua those gentlemen called health ofB
have ordered a few persons of lower ci
stances to fill in their lots, so as to oa

mediately complied with ; but why not
of more wealth, where there is ten turn

Valuable Lands &c. for Sale,
On the 19th "June next.
In compliance with the -will of Engelhard Teiser,
Esq- lately deceased, will be sold at public auc-
lio'i, CM the premises, at 12 o'clock, on the I9eh
T/itnc next,
All that valuable PL ANTATION whereon
the deceased lately resided, containing about
331 1-2 acres, distant about 4 1-2 miles from
the city of Baltimore, and adjoining the lands
of Gen'. Smith, Daniel Bowly, esq. and others.
On thisjland are erected, a comfortable D well-
ing-Hcuse ; a convenient stone Barn, 33 feet in
width and 75 feet long ; a Still-House, with
2 Stills ; and a Spring-House, the lower part
stone, the upper part brick ; exclusive of seve-
ral other tenements, and every other neces-
sary out-house ; good Apple and Peach Or-
chards, of excellent fruit i also, good kitchen
gardens. About half the land is clear, the
other half is young thriving wood; a conside-
rable quantity of meadow, a constant stream
of water running through it. The upland is
kind for all sorts of grain. This property is a
healthy, handsome, and pleasant situation. ,
Also, at the same time ana place will be sold at
auction, as aforesaid,
All that well-known valuable FARM, late
the property of the deceased, called Grace's
Quarter ; situated in Middle-river Neck, at
the eottflux of Gunpowder river and Saltpetre
creek, by which two waters it is almost stir
rounded. It contains about 424 acres of arable
wood and meadow land. For fertility of soil,
this place is equalled by few. To point out
the number of natural advantages attending it,
would far exceed the bounds of an advertise-
ment. There is on it a good comfortable
House, almost new, with Kitchen, Negro
Quarter, Spring-House, with necessary out-
houses, and a large frame Barn (erected in the
suninie of 1804) with stables, cow houses, &c.
tinderneathjit. * Likewise, two apple-orchards,
two peach ditto, of the best of fruit, with
cherry and plumb-trees, and about 20 remark-
ably fine pear-trees, from the fruit of which
aione Considerable sums have been made. In
fact, no place in the country can be belter
situated, either for the grazier or planter, for
nearly the whole of the farm can he put into
meadow at a small expence. T*he fishery on
this place, in the season, is extremely profita-
ble ; and the shores are lined with wild fowl
of all kinds. It has the advantage of an ele-
gant prospect of the river and adjacent coun-
try, atd good water. The distance to Balti
more by land is 16 miles, and by water 4 or 5
hours sail.
Persons disposed to purchase, are invited
to view the above property.
Both the said farms will be laid off and di-
vided into smaller farms, to suit purchasers.
Plats of the. same will in a few days be left at
the auction-room of Mr. Thomas Chase.
